Best Food in Town Period.. Wow! This restaurant is fantastic. It has bold Asian flavors combined with artistic presentations. Literally the kajaki (Hawaiian for blue marlin) was so beautiful that I didn't want to eat it, alas when i finally did taste it it was delicious. While I was there i also enjoyed the Blackened Tuna appetizer which was delightful a spicy but not too spicy mustard butter sauce went very well with this high quality tuna. I also had the sashami sampler which blew my socks off!!!! Maybe Roys is the next hot sushi restaurant in Austin?? I certainly think so. The service was absolutely wonderful; very attentive and personal, the new Executive Chef ,Jason, even came by to say hello. I will definitely return to this great Austin restaurant.

Amazing Seafood!!!!. Ate there with my wife two nights ago and haven't stopped talking about it. The Ahi tuna was amazing. I haven't had any as good since I left the coast. Service was spot on and the wine list was great as well. I am surprised that more people havent' stumbled across this place. It is right downtown and probably now rates as my favorite restaurant. They have an amazing patio, too. I highly suggest this place for either a special occasion or just an excuse to have some good food.

great food, quit and intimate. I love Roy's Hawaiin .It has a super friendly staff and the food is great. If you need to $ pinch on the money, don't go. But cheap food does'nt taste like this!! It takes time to cook great food and I'm o.k. paying for it, too. Great for date night or a few friend's gathering. Beautiful atmosphere. Bon A'petite!!

This sophisticated Hawaiian-fusion restaurant gives mainlanders an upscale taste of the islands.. In Short
Roy Yamaguchi opened his first restaurant in 1988 in Honolulu, Hawaii, blending European cooking techniques with locally produced ingredients and Asian spices. Today, his Hawaiian-fusion cuisine is served in a sophisticated atmosphere with dark woods, Asian accents and contemporary, island-inspired art. In addition to "Roy's classics" like Hawaiian-style misoyaki butterfish and the popular melting hot chocolate souffle, each location offers daily specials prepared by the local chef, all of whom are trained personally by Roy.

sERVICE AND RIBS ARE A PHENOM. The service is wonderful and the ribs are to die for. Never thought a place like Roys would have great ribs because its really a fish joint. But the ribs and steak were as good as any high end steak house.

The chicken was so - so. I would recommend sticking to the fish or the beef.

5 Stars every time!. I've been here about ten times in the past three years and it is excellent EVERY TIME. No matter what we order, it is always perfectly cooked and seasoned. Since the kitchen is open, you can see that it is clean and the kitchen staff is expedient and professional. The bathrooms are so pristine and clean you could eat off the floor. Their special cocktails are delicious. Also, I have been here for New Years Eve and Valentines Day, and those Prix fix menus are terrific as well.

MUST TRY!!! It's not as expensive as you might think!!!. Everyone should try Roy's! I took my husband there for his birthday and when I made the reservation they asked it it was a special occasion. I told the girl that it was his birthday and when we got to the restaurant they had printed out a special menu just for him. It had his name and "Happy Birthday and Best Wishes from Roy's". We also ordered the souffle at the end of our meal and they wrote Happy Birthday in chocolate on the plate and put a candle on it. It was so great. He was so surprised.

The best part about Roy's is that they have a Prix Fixe Menu that you can order from. It's $35 per person and includes an appetizer, entree, and the dessert, so you can get our of there for under a hundred dollars. We've spent more than that at restaurants half as nice. I also ordered an entree I didn't like and the server encouraged me to order something different at no charge. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a romantic evening out. THANKS ROY'S!!!

Fine dining. Incredible food, incredible service. Always creative menus, and a flour-less chocolate cake that is amazing. I can't eat gluten and the chef came to the table to tell me what I could eat and suggest side dishes with the entre that would match well (since I couldn't eat some of the sides). I had scallops that melted in my mouth, my sister said her fish was some of the best she had ever had (she had the trio, tuna, butterfish and a third I can't remember). Been there twice and both times was great. It is pricey, but well worth the money.

Best Meal ever In this CIty...... All I can say is that it was the best meal I have ever had in this city, hands down. I have lived in Miami, NYC, and London, and France... I have eaten every where worth wild and I can't remember a meal quite so good. The inventions this Chef "Lawrence Kocurek " has brought to town are defiantly a reflection of his NYC culinary background. We started the meal with a Sushi dish that was Hamachi two ways, both in tartare form and the grilled Collar, my favorite... it was to die for, subtle in the tartare and assertive flavors in the collar. Next we had the Hearts of Palm Salad with Truffle dressing, get this Chef Kocurek made the prosciutto that is in the salad in house, the waiter said it has taking a year to mature...who does that outside of NYC and other great cities. The salad was fantastic. Then for entree my wife and I had the "Opakapaka" Hawaiian Snapper and I had the Loin of Lamb...blown away the Lamb was cooked to perfection and looked like a steak the way it was prepared huge portion served with a Mint and Apricot Tabouleh and a lamb sausage called merguez that I knew from my time in France, the waiter informed us that the lamb sausage was also made in house... fantastic dish.

Ah my wifes dish the opakapaka we have been to Hawaii a few times and each time the wife must get Opakapaka she just loves it. This preparation the chef does is simply but out there at the same time. Chef Kocurek sears the fish skin side till crispy , then sets that atop a bed of sauteed spinach, wild mushrooms Portuguese sausage and Chili marinated Baby Octopus, severed with a ginger flavored sauce truly a beautiful looking and tasting dish. Dessert Chocolate souffle. This place is a truly over looked eatery in Austin, I can't say enough without rambling..... the Chef is fantastic, service was great ,RC was our server. We will be back and will tell all about the best FOOD IN THE CITY..... ROY'S.

Wonderful. My boyfriend and I went here on our anniversary. The server did his job well, he was very attentive, although a little cold. The cocktails were delicious, my boyfriend had the Mai Tai and I had the Hawaiian Martini. We had the calamari as an appetizer, and whoo, it;s not for the faint of heart. It was very spicy, but tasted nothing short of amazing. I recommend it if you don't mind a little spice. The calamari was the best I have ever had. For my entree, I had the Classic Trio. All three fish were delicious. The tuna was cooked just right, the butterfish was very flavorful and the salmon was great. All three sauces were superb as well. I was slightly dissapointed by the size of all three portions though, they were so small. Even after the appetizer and every bit of my entree, I wasnt full. For the price, I expected a little bit more. We had the chocolate souffle to finish our meal off, and oh my, I recommend it to any chocolate lovers out there. Overral, it was a great experience. The restaurant was very romantic, perfect for a special occasion. I would tell you though, only go if you are looking for a great experience overral and quality, over quantity. If you go in looking for a entree that will leave you stuffed, you might walk out dissapointed.
