We went the first week it opened and were thrilled. It has been way to long since I have been back, but we went last week for an anniversary and am happy to say it still rocks!
Roy's Hawaiian Fusion. Simply the best restaurant I have ever been to. The food was magnificent, the service was perfect, the drinks were fantastic! And no I don't work for the company.
For a truly special occassion. Wonderful food, and impeccable service made this a tremendous choice for an anniversary. They know how to treat a customer on a special day.
I felt ripped off!. I received a gift card for $50.00 from my sister on my birthday (Nov.) I saved it for my husband & I to use for Valentine's Day. The food was okay but certainly not worth $173.13. With tip it came to over $200.00. I gave them the gift card and the waiter came back saying it was declined. I said that it couldn't be, I'd never used it till today. But he said "sorry". So we paid the check anyway. When I got home, I called the number on the card and put in my number. I t stated that it had been used on 2/14/07, it was purchased on 11/13/06. I called Roy's and talked with the manager there and told him what I experienced. I gave him the number to call & the number on my card to verify what I learned. He called back and said that he was sorry, he didn't know what happened and was going to mail me a giftcard for $75.00. I never received the card. I think that the manager and the waiter must have some scam going. They each made $25.00 off of me. I will never go there again. I also think that the gift cards arn't worth it. Don't buy them. They somehow screwed it up to were you can't even use them.
Hats off to the chef!!.
I've never experienced this good of customer service anywhere in my life anywhere. The staff is extreamly proffesional and fast.
The food is good enough to make a condesour melt. Hats off to the chef!!
The atmosphere is romantic but is also a classy bar scene. I am nothing less but grateful that they have come to town.
Food was extremely bland and overpriced, Good service /ambience. Our waiter was very friendly and offered us information on what to order on the menu. Then we did, and all the food was extremely bland and tasteless, covered up with more sauce that made it even MORE tasteless. For example, the waiter recommended a sushi roll for $14.00, and we got it but it was flavor-less sauce heaped upon flavor-less compilations of what they called the best roll on the menu. Also another girl in my party ordered a salad for $12-15 dollars and all she got were a few leaves, some toppings - overall: VERY DISAPPOINTING!! You will save tons of your money (because this place is SOO expensive for it's quality of food) if you take it somewhere better to one of the other fine restaurants that Austin has to offer.
Great Service and food made us feel very Special..
My Fiancee and I went to Roy's to celebrate our recent engagement and were treated like VIPs all the way. Small touches like a personalized menu insert that wished us best wishes and congratulations and a personal message on our desert plates really set the tone for a great evening. The food was wonderful. Since this was our very first time dining at Roy's, both of us chose items form the prix fixe menu and enjoyed everything. Our waiter recommended a great sparkling wine form New Mexico of all places. Our service was great. Other reviewers mentioned that the service could a little too attentive at times, and while I can see that, it didn't bother either my fiancee or me one bit. Keep in mind though, everyone that checked on us congratulated us on our engagement, and I don't think we would've ever got tired of being congratulated.
Again, Roy's was a great place to have a very special romantic dinner. Everything they did gave us a memorable time.
Great dates spot. Roy's is good. I have eaten in other roys around the US. the austin version is nice. A good, chef driven concept for sure with a nice space, well decorated.
Roy's Review.
My husband and I went there to celebrate our third anniversary, and it was wonderful. I had the lobster potstickers for an appetizer which was delicious. We had the filet of beef and tiger shrimp for our entree. The beef was tender and full of flavor, and it came with a interesting sauce. We paired our meal with a velvety Chilean wine; it was a perfect combination. For dessert we had the chocolate souffle with rasberry sauce, which was unbelievable.
Many reviews complain about the noise level, but we went on a Sunday night, and it was pretty quiet. The service was superb, (perhaps even a little too attentive at times!)
All around a great romantic outing. Nice touches included a complimentary champagne toast and a personalized menu wishing us "Happy Anniversary."
Simply Wow!!!. I took my wife to Roy's for her birthday in September.....and it's a decision I certainly don't regret. Our waitress was fantastic (an 8 out of 10), the ambiance was great (10/10), and the food was perfect (10/10). The food was probably the best I've ever had. It doesn't mean that Roy's is the best restaurant, but on that night, all the stars aligned perfectly for them (& us). I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice, romantic place to go for dinner. The prices are fair, but you'll end up spending $50/person even w/o drinks.
