Editorial Review for Swad – by Susan Kirr

In Short
Green chairs and tables, wood paneling and lacy white curtains contribute to the throwback element. Indian and non-Indian families keep the place busy on the weekends, and the line at the counter never seems to diminish. Swad serves vegetarian food from northern and southern India, but specializes in the Gujarat province. Dahi poori are filled with chickpeas, cilantro and noodles. The Mysore masala dosa specialty consists is a lentil crepe stuffed with soft curried potatoes.

I saw some reviews in which the person said that you are a fool if you don't like this place...I guess you are a bigger fool if you like this place. My husband and I went there , I can say it was a big mistake..... the food was stale , the paneer sabji was more than 2-3 days old. I sent it back but they said it was fresh... I also witnessed lack of professional attitude. IEveryone overthere in the kitchenwas talking so loudly that each time the door opened I was scared to death. There was an old lady(may be the owner) who was contineously shouting at her daughter-in-law...it was not a good experience. I never went back there. I will not go there ieven if they offered me free food.

My husband and I have eaten at Swad about 5-6 times in the last 10 months. The food has always been pretty good, I love the variety in their Thali and my husband really likes their Chole Bhature. Just a word of caution, stay away from their South Indian food. The service though not great is passable. Overall Swad is a great value for money.

Pros: Food
