What People Are Saying About Tokyo Japanese Restaurant

In Short – Situated in a modest Westlake strip mall, Tokyo Sushi has nice touches that bring the space up a notch. Blond wood accents, Japanese woodcut prints and linen tablecloths make the spare space feel more refined. Diners can also opt to sit at the bar. The sushi combo is an affordable way to sample dishes. On a cold day, diners opt for nabeyaki udon soup: thick noodles with snow peas and shiitake mushrooms.
Fresh and delicious Japanese food in town

This is the first choice of Japanese restaurants in Austin that we will go to. After going to Tokyo Sushi for 4 years, I would have never gone to other Japanese restaurants in Austin because others don't make the same Japanese foods like Tokyo Sushi. My top choices are the combos in the dinner menu. The chef is excellent in making pleasant and artistic presentation of each dish.
- Pros: fresh fish, traditional Japanese food, great cook

Love, Love, Love this place.
I rarely eat sushi, but I come here for the chicken katsu (amazing) and other Japanese plates. Sweet staff and always has food ready in no time!!
Surprisingly great sushi!

We came here based on the past few reviews and was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the sushi was! It was fresh, big portions and they had very inventive rolls. The "Snow Crab Heaven" roll was really heavenly, and everything came out quickly. I was at first hesitant to give it a try because we've been disappointed by many restaurants here in Austin. I have eaten in the largest cities of the U.S. from gourmet to ethnic, and especially in Houston, where they have the BEST Asian food around. However, I was impressed by this place - service, food and cleanliness were up there on my favorite restaurants. What I liked too is that it wasn't so overpriced. We also ordered the Dragon roll, seaweed salad, tempura appetizer and miso soup, and they were all excellently prepared and tasty. Give this non-descript suburban sushi place a chance and I'm sure you'll become a regular!
- Pros: Convenient parking, value for your money, tasty food
- Cons: Out in the burbs, but that's about it
