Editorial Review for Silhouette Restaurant & Bar – by Susan Kirr
In Short
The narrow railroad space is painted a deep blood-red and just seems to keep going and going. There's a full bar and lounge area at the front, intimate booths and tables in the center and a sushi bar at the back. Exotic drinks, bubble tea and Japanese tea ceremonies add to the allure. The full sushi bar offers inventive rolls, like the refreshing summer roll: crisp cucumber, asparagus and cream cheese rolled in soybean paper.

Service has been lackluster, but it depends on which waitress you receive. One seemed absolutely clueless and provided the poorest service I have ever seen, but the waitress with glasses was prompt and knowledgeable. She took orders quickly and brought food in a short amount of time. The sushi itself is generally served warm, which is not very good. The rice doesn't seem fresh. I also discovered a bone in my salmon role, which is a first for me. The price is nice, especially on Monday happy hours. Not one of the best restaurants in Austin...

this place is definitely not for everyone! it's an eclectic atmosphere, and requires a certain kind of attention to be fully appreciated for what it is. from the walls to the people this place is beautiful, however i have been selective about who i invite to join me here for dinner. it's not a suit / tie place. downside- they literally only serve sushi. it's very simple and traditional, and there are little to no other meat or fusion dishes. upside- they literally only serve sushi! and i would guess that's the reason the fish has been amazingly fresh everytime. note- i would definitely go for the server/bartenders personal recommendations. i have yet to be let down. they tend to have up to an hour wait during weekends. i would call ahead.
