Editorial Review for Johnny Fins – by Susan Kirr
In Short
This floating restaurant in Hurst Harbor Marina has undergone several transformations, seemingly sticking with Johnny Fins. The crowd includes families, couples, teenagers and folks on the lake. The indoor dining area has orange and navy-blue walls, rustic plank floors, garage doors that open to the outside and a colorful bar. Starters include baby back chicken wings and large salads. Seven-layer chicken, a house specialty, is enhanced by black beans, sour cream, bacon and queso.

You can always tell what makes a great restaurant when you look to see where the owner is.. In Johnny Fin's case, he is right in the thick of it. From serving food to being a social host, Johnny does it all and makes sure everyone is having a good time. I like the cheesesteak, simple and always a tummy filler. The drinks are alway great and cold. The burgers are good as well. To finish, I recommend the warm brownie and ice cream, always a pleaser. Having dinner on the patio in the cool fall nights and watching a band, well, it doesn't get any better. Its a fabulous place to experience the lake lifestyle. Critical points: sometimes at lunch they are understaffed. The crew still works hard but they could use the help.

Go on the weekends to see a band and hang out and party with your friends into the wee hours. The music was awesome and everyone was dancing!! Tons of women in bikinis and men buying drinks. It is the place to be on the lake in the evening. I love the burgers...the buns where buttered..it was cooked to perfection. I thought that my service was laid back and original. It is a hidden oasis in the commercialized desert. Since the place has turned to Johnny Fins I have seen nothing but great changes. Keep up the great work and local support! Oh, and fireworks on the 4th of July.
Pros: Atmosphere, Originality, Burgers
Cons: Busy, Parking is Tricky
