DO NOT GO TO LIDIA'S EVER!!.
I have been going to Lidia's WAY too long, about 6 yrs.
She is never friendly and acts like she has never seen
me before. One time she told me my pants would be
ready by a certain date and she said come back in
couple of hours (know she had not even started them).
Another time she told me I had been in already that day
and picked up my clothes (I HAD NOT). She finally said
that she must have me mistaken for someone else and
admitted that my things were not ready. Every time I
dropped something off she always said it would be at
least a week. At least 2-3 times I went and she was
closed (even tho the hours did not indicate that). My
last time was about 2 weeks ago when I took a dress
to be hemmed I went back
one week later and she acted like she couldn't find
it. When I got home and tried dress on it
had not been altered at all. I was furious and wanted
to immediately get in the car and confront her. I didn't
because it was the Christmas holidays and there was
just too much going on. Decided to go the next day
and ask for money back (had no intention of leaving
it). Also wanted to ask her how she could treat
people that way that had come in for so long and so
often. Then I just decided......... You know what Lidia...
What goes around, comes around. Maybe you are
nice to your family and friends, but there is no excuse
to treat customers that way. I will DEFINITELY let
anyone I know to never go to your store and you
wont see my face every again.(always
friendly to YOU.)
Don't Use!!!. I decided to try Lidia's because it is close to home, but what was a simple alteration was not done on time, and also looks like it was done by a 10-year-old. After paying her (which I shouldn't have) I am taking it somewhere else to be redone.
Takes FOREVER. Doesn't meet deadlines. Lies.. I have used Lidia for several alterations - hems, taking in formal dresses (including a bridesmaid's gown), etc. I became somewhat doubtful of her services when she was a week late altering a dress I took her. However, I got the dress in time for the event, and the price was great, so I didn't complain. I took her three items - very simple alterations - one Monday, and she told me they would be ready the next Monday. On Monday she called to tell me they would not be ready until Tuesday. I waited until FRIDAY to pick them up because I know she is slow. When I got there Friday, she told me they were not ready. I was extremely upset because I needed one piece that weekend. She told me that the "dress took longer than I thought it would, so I couldn't get it all done." So I asked for the dress. She just stood there. "It isn't finished." I told her that I was very disappointed - that I had been using her for a while and I had referred several people to her, and it was the last time I would trust her to meet her deadline. I demanded the she give my clothes back. She begged me to let her finish it that night. I told her I didn't believe that she could do that, and that I wanted to take the items elsewhere. Finally, she brought me my clothes. She had not even STARTED to work on any of them! When I noticed this, I asked her about it and she said, "No. I haven't started." So, she lied when she said that the dress had taken longer than she thought. She had almost two weeks to do something that would take most tailors about 3 days to do, and she didn't even start. And she didn't just "forget" because she had called that Monday to tell me they'd be ready on Tuesday. Lidia's prices are definitely reasonable, but DO NOT take her ANYTHING that you need/want back within a reasonable time. Also, don't expect friendly, or even decent, customer service.
Best Tailor in Austin. Lidia has been our tailor for nearly six years for everything from broken buttons/zippers and pants alterations to dresses. If she doesn't accept some small jobs, I don't blame her one bit: she is excellent and, because of her well-earned reputation, has a ton of regular customers. Frankly, it would be a horrible waste of talent for her to accept every small job that comes her way. She has remade entire suits for me and my friend's wedding dress. Her rates are extremely reasonable, given the superior quality of her work. If you're going somewhere else, you're paying more for less.
RUDEST OWNER - MONEY MONGER!!!. Hello. I am new to the area, and used CitySearch to find a tailor or someone who can do a simple, simple task. Just had some material that I needed cut and made into really small sash. Called Lidia's Alterations and she told asked me, "Can you call someone else to do this? I do not want to do this because I would not get very much money for something like this. Its just a sash. I don't have the time. Please call someone else". I was astonished!!! She asked me to go elsewhere b/c she wouldnt make much money off of sewing a sash. Rudest lady. Rudest cutomer service. Don't recommend. Please don't use her services.
