Excellent Grilled Catfish. Very good value. Large portions and fairly low cost ($10 - $15 range). Also get 2 sides which I went with mashed potatoes and black beans. The creamed corn is also good and homemade not out of a can.

They have huge salads if you're into that. And a large chicken fried steak sandwich. Highly recommended.

Citysearch Editorial Review. The interior is pure Elk's Lodge-meets-'50s retro with cozy booths tucked away from the throng of partygoers outside. Separated from the restaurant, the bar sports video games and provides a welcome retreat for the parched and nicotine deprived. A patio provides ample seating for hungry diners craving fresh air, a stage for Nutty's numerous live shows, and a sandbox. The Tex-Mex menu has Southwestern egg rolls, salmon BLTs and chicken smothered in veggies and cheese.

Not That Great Anymore!. Last night I took two out of town guest to enjoy Nutty Brown, which use to be a very friendly fun place to hear music and have a nice little dinner and a few beers under the trees! What a joke! The girl that was collecting the money for the Eggmen venue was very nice...and the girls at the outdoor bar! We waited for a table, lots of people, no problem waiting...we finally found a table and after sitting there for at least 20 minutes a waiter came by. We asked him to please clean the table, which he sort of mad an attempt. Came back 10 minutes later and asked if we were ready to order. We told him we were not ready...had a drink. Next thing you know a very rude hostess informed us we HAD TO LEAVE! The table was for people eating...what the heck? We had to stand by the bar...even though there were other empty tables! This has never happened to me in all the years I have been going to the Nutty Brown. Too bad....not going again...The owners need to know that the staff is running out customers with their rudeness!

Sad, but it's bad.. The staff has turned amazingly bad. In two visits over the last two weeks, we had very poor service from wait staff who couldn't get an order right, didn't pay attention, and spent more time vanished from the floor than actually serving. The food was tolerable but not the same quality it used to be, and because of the poor service, arrived cold on our second visit. That was enough for me to decide driving farther into town for our next meal.

This used to be a decent place. Used to. Not Now!. I have been going to this place since it opened. The food was decent, service was good. Was. With any luck another owner will come in and actually do the deal correctly. The place has HUGE potential but current ownership and management is woefully lacking with the exception of a couple of people that have been there a long time. There is a manager that shaves his head and a waiter with long hair that usually wears a bandanna that are both great guys. The other manager with the dark hair is OK. Went to see Eric Tessmer, band and was great the rest was hideous. Outside bar is closed no tables at stage it did start clear out. Sat in the stone pit area. There was no service there. Inside to get drinks. Bartender was slow and inconsiderate as always. Several tables cleared and I went in to ask the hostess if we could be seated. Asked if I wanted to order food, I said no. We were refused a table and told to go drinks myself. The most sanctimonious waitresses that I have ever had the misfortune to deal with, walked by and I asked why the outdoor bar was closed. Response in arrogance “go ask the hostess” and a disgusted look. I said “I might as well talk to one of those bricks” pointing at the planter. The waitress responded with disgusted grunting something unintelligible and making a face while rolling her eyes and storming away. RUDE! Went back to the bar, which we usually avoid due to the stench of smoke so strong as to be nauseating. Got a couple of drinks and we were standing at the closed bar and the waitress came by, totally snotty, sanctimonious attitude and again rolled her eyes at me. Where's the manager? The manager came to the hostess area and I suggested we go outside to talk. Guy that shaves his head would have been a lot more calming but this guy managed to calm me some. I made my complaint angrily since I was livid about the ruined evening. The other guy probably would do something since I think he may be part owner not this one I was just an inconvenience. Went to see W.C. Clark the other night and it was pretty much the same. W.C. Is great but doesn't have the equipment to play outside without house PA system which doesn't exist for the small stage. Maybe on the big stage but it's never used. As much of an insult to W.C. as putting B.B King in Austin Music hall. You wonder why it is impossible to get major shows here in the “Music Capital of the World”? The food at W.C. was repulsive. Did not eat but the stench from the fried food was nauseating. That and the lack of decent sound prompted us to leave. I couldn't determine what the other stink was until I realized it was the fajitas mixed with what would seem to be stale soiled diapers. Kids usually don't bother me to much and the kids that dance to the band are cute and fun to watch. On the other hand, brats with irresponsible parents are another story. The fact that the management doesn't say a word doesn't help. Kid friendly is one thing. Brats in a situation where adults are trying to enjoy the music and setting s not. Apparently at this point the staff for the most part must be imported from New York or California. RUDE, INATENTIVE, SLOW AND SANCTIMONIOUS AT BEST. This place is not a very good place to go any longer. Maybe intelligence and customer focus will win.

awesome venue, friendly staff. I love this place, good music and good food. It really can't get any better than that! The bartender and waitstaff were awesome. I love going there to see my favorite my favorite band play, Texas Renegade. They play there all the time. Go see em!

Great food, reasonably priced, nice outdoor seating. We were on our way to a lavendar farm to pick lavendar and had always wanted to try the Nutty Brown Cafe. We stopped and were so pleasantly surprised! We sat outside, and the shade from the large trees kept us cool in the TX June heat. The service was attentive, and the food was yummy! Great experience. This was on a weekend during the day and there was no wait. Good experience, we recommend.

fun, Texas spot for live music and Southern food. I was on my way to Wimberly with some friends and we stopped at the Nutty Brown for dinner. Guy Forsyth was playing there that night so not only were we able to get some good grub but we also got to see a great show! We got chips and guacomole to start. The guac was like butter - so good! My boyfriend got a chicken fried steak and I got veggie burger. Everything tasted great and for somewhere with such a chill atmosphere we were served very fast.
