What People Are Saying About David's Bridal

In Short – A chic, sleek boutique, it's not. But those willing to look carefully will likely find a big-time bargain. The staff is helpful and knows the merchandise but doesn't provide extensive one-on-one attention or advice. Stores (particularly on weekends) can be swamped with brides-to-be. David's specializes in beaded satin A-lines and simple lace sheaths that just hit the $500 mark. Most labels are tasteful but of medium-quality: Gloria Vanderbilt, Lady Eleanor, Oleg Cassini and the likes.

Better than I expected

by o0anna0o

After reading the reviews here on City search I didn't have very high expectations when I visited David's Bridal, however I did have several dresses I wanted to try on based on what I saw in the catalog online. I was actually very pleasantly surprised by the whole experience though!

Everyone at the store seemed very nice and respectful. I had Laura help me find the right dress and she was really great. After ruling out all of the dresses I wanted to try on, I asked her to bring me something based on my budget and the look I liked (I wanted to have the hourglass figure and really accentuate the waist). The dress I ended up getting is actually the dress she found for me. It is absolutely perfect and I am sooo excited to wear it at my wedding. The deal was awesome, I got $200 off my dress! The quality of the dress does not even compare to anything in the price range after that discount!

I also had my dress altered at Davids Bridal. Thankfully all I really needed was a bustle because they really do seem pricey (not sure how that compares to other places that will do the work on wedding dresses). Overall my experience with the alterations department was good. No complaints about the service and both ladies helping me seemed nice.

I would definitely recommend checking this place out when you go looking for your wedding dress!

  • Pros: Great selections, nice service
  • Cons: Alterations dept seemed expensive

David's Bridal's Alts. Department are ran by non-seamstress'

by seamstress3

Each David's Bridal Alteration Department has a professional seamstress as head. Most of them really know their craft. But the alteration department is actually ran by the store managers. The store managers have degrees in retail managing. They know nothing and want to know nothing about their Alteration Department. The people doing the fitting and sewing are in a presser cooker and other associates add to the presser. The sales people over promise the brides then dump the problem on the Alteration Department. The floor managers need to control the flow of their store. That why your alteration was ruined.

Pretty dresses, STAY AWAY FROM ALTERATIONS IF YOU WANT THEM TO STAY THAT WAY!

by pintsize

Pretty dresses? Yes. Helpful consultants? Yes.

Be warned, if you decide to get your dress altered there, they will charge you up the bum! Here is a list of my problems with this store:

1. Did not have any "pretty" dresses in my size, and I am not a huge size. I was told if I ordered a dress in my size from a smaller version, it would arrive one week before my wedding. In order to get the dress I really wanted, I was told I had to get the smaller size and take it up. What kind of CHAIN store takes 2 months to ship a dress?! It seemed completely absurd but I had faith the alterations would work out.

2. Because I had to take the smaller size and alter it up, my total for alterations was $297.00 on top of the $464.00 for the dress. I don't mind paying for all I had done, but read on...........................

3. I just went to get fitted for my dress to bring it home, and guess what......it did not fit! According to their measurements (from a lady who did not take my original ones), I gained 4 inches on my waist in one month! I could completely agree if this were true, but I had been on a diet and working out since I paid for the dress! As it turns out, the lady who measured me the first time did not do it right. Now I just paid another $115 to make the back of my dress into a corset style so that it fits me in time for the wedding. Also, they had to completely undo the front design of the dress and when it was put back together, it did not look the same. This was not the same dress I fell in love with.

If you do get a dress here, do not let them carnie you into paying for anything you don't need. It's best to just stay away from their alterations department period!

I completely regret getting my dress from this store and even more, having it altered here.

  • Pros: pretty dresses if you can find your size, some consultants were very helpful
  • Cons: alterations, limited sizes, big delays in shipping dresses
