What Our Expert Scouts Say

B D Riley's Irish Pub

B.D. Riley's own catchphrase -- "6th Street, for grownups" -- actually captures the atmosphere here quite nicely. Good job, marketing team. A bit sports bar, a bit historical Austin, and a bit upmarket, B.D. Riley's is the gentleman's choice for St. Patrick's Day, where aged Irish whiskey is the order of the day, rather than questionable green beer.

I work here, but I've been a regular since it opened. An adult bar in a district without many, featuring award-winning food, carefully poured pints of irish and local beers, a full bar, live music nightly and service that will keep you coming back. All the sports on TV you can watch, including all Notre Dame and New England Patriots football games, with sound.

Haven on 6th Street. B.D. Riley's is a great pub. It's located on 6th Street, but it's generally devoid of the squealing sorostitutes and frat daddies that you'll find in the neighboring establishments. They have a decent beer selection including a few local favorites, and the Guinness pour is great. The food that we've tried is good; we've had the veggie tacos, corned beef, cheesecake, fish 'n chips, and salads. The pub was built (partially) in Ireland, and it does have a distinctly Irish vibe. Check it out!

Best Fish n' Chips in Austin!. Bar none, this is THE BEST place in Austin for Fish N' Chips!! My boyfriend lives in Cedar Park and I live in Round Rock and we travel to 6th Street at least once a week (sometimes twice) just to have fish n' chips at B.D Riley's! Outstanding food & atmosphere! Highly recommended!!

Have a pint and some pub grub in the city's largest Irish import.. In Short
The place was designed and built in Ireland, then taken apart, put into crates, shipped across the pond to be reassembled by Irish carpenters. The pub retains its Irish ambience by avoiding the chaos that often accompanies the Sixth Street scene. Regulars know they can get Southwestern appetizers or fish-and-chips without worrying that the crush of the crowd will prevent dining. Fresh beer and a wide variety of whiskeys and spirits are also available.

An Adult Crowd on 6th Street? Wow.. Not sure what that other reviewer was drinking, but Guinness Draught, Harp Lager and Smithwicks Irish Ale are all the Irish beers this drinker needs, especially when Guinness is poured with as much love and care as it is here. The food menu is extensive and quite good, especially the Black Bean Queso appetizer, the South of the Border Salad and the Shepherd's Pie dinner. The crowd is friendly & fun and NOT predominantly students, unlike the other 100 bars on the street. B. D. Riley's is all about good food, fine beers and all sorts of live music 5 nights a week with no cover charge. And funa great place to meet people after work or make new friends. There are always interesting people to chat with at the bar.

Authentic Irish in Austin. An awesome pub atmosphere, and very authentic. Aside from the "American" live music and lack of the usual amount of Irish beer, this pub has a great scene and great music. Definitely a place to visit and a great place to eat at a resonable price and in a great neighborhood. Try the fish and chips, amazing!
