Looking for bubble tea? This is the spot. Try their yummy Taro Root or Avocado. Also have tasty (and heavy) Asian fare with free hot soup!
Best Smoothies!. I go here month after month for the Blueberry Smoothie with Pearls, my daughter loves the Passion Fruit Smoothie. So yum!
Pearl heaven.
*I'm only reviewing the drinks as we've never eaten actual food here
Coco's has the best pearl in town. There are others, but their pearls are never the right consistency and always bland. Coco's is always slightly sweet and perfectly al dente! They have probably the largest variety of flavors - do not limit yourself to the one's pictured on the wall because there are more listed on the menu overhead as well as on the counter and chalk boards. The coconut milk and cappucino are always hits. Or if you're not at all daring, go with a safely delicious strawberry or mango. Have an appetite? Try the shaved ice. Pick up to 4 'mix ins' (lychee, red bean, the multicolored jelly and mango jello are our favorites) and ask for extra condensed milk and syrup and enjoy!!
One place that I HAVE TO stop every time I visit Austin. I started going to CoCo's when it first opened around 2000. I haven't tried a whole lot of different things there but I LOVE the almond milk tea with boba (tapioca pearls) and the onion pie. Sadly I try every boba place I come across in Austin ( my parents home) and Dallas ( my home) and I have never found any pearls that come close to the sweetness and texture of these. The drinks are FANTASTIC!
best Taiwanese restaurant so far. I was there when Coco's Cafe first opened, and they haven't changed much through these at least 5 years. Their "Taiwanese" food is far from the original in Taiwan, but it's the closest you can get anywhere in Austin. The best thing about this place is their Taiwanese desserts that are up to par with the original. The food is just okay, but the bubble teas are the best. They come in a variety of flavors (papaya, watermelon, etc), lots of teas and smoothies. They also have shaved ice It's about $3 a drink including tapioca (some drinks with fruit cost a couple dollars more). Overall not too expensive, and a pretty good place to eat.
I WILL DRIVE DOWNTOWN ONLY FOR THEM SMOOTHIES. Their smoothies, shakes and frappes are awesome, i will drive from n austin any day just for them. Great prices, good service, there is always parking and the taiwanese community is always spotted there, same for koreans and chinese which means ITS GOOD! Its just like the ones in Taiwain. The place is clean, fresh colorful .. did i mention CLEAN? Great location too.
Great!. I spent my summers in Taiwan growing up and I like this place. It's cheap, the food is good, and I like the boba. Most of the snacks is stuff I grew up eating. I would definitely recommend a visit.
pearls especially good, nice atmosphere, affordable. cocos has great affordable drinks, my favorite is the coconut smoothie with pearls. Pearls have a sweet, almost butterscotchy flavor, not like some bland pearls i've had at other boba tea restaurants. interior has a nice ambiance, its a very inviting place, great for just hanging out. The staff is very friendly service is fast, and they're open fairly late.
Taiwanese food is a real treat!. Taro Milk is a purple, sweet concoction, as well as creamy, sinful Peanut Butter Milk. The Green Onion Pie is a doughy, greasy, delicious appetizer that can be shared with another person. Peppercorn Chicken combines fried, sweet chicken with pickled vegetables and spicy jalapenos. Don't miss on Bacon Pork; it doubles the fat and calories, but who cares, it makes you happy. The Eel Steak w/Rice is a tasty dish; a massive slice of sweet, broiled freshwater eel tops a bowl of rice and unique Taiwanese vegetables.
Coffeehouse atmosphere with dozens of bubble teas and inexpensive Taiwanese food..
In Short
Rich, colorful walls and festive accents including a giant mushroom design table brighten the casual environment. Counter ordering and a clean interior complete the look. Pickled vegetables feature shredded cabbage and thin jalapeno slices offer varying green hues. The green onion pie overflows with a scallion and herb filling. Unagi sushi lovers go for broiled eel steak and rice. The marquee players are the bubble tea/pearl drinks with jumbo straws to suck the tapioca pearls.
Bad service. I used to be a regular customer of this cafe but I have faced some experienced that have prevented me to dine- in at the cafe. I visited the cafe at UT area at 9.30 pm earlier on and the service was really bad, the cashier was rude and disrespectful. I wonder if they ever trained her.
