Hubris and Greed - I Passed on the Passat TDI. Hubris and greed. Hewlett wanted full MSRP on a Passat TDI SE and additionally attempted to "steal" my trade-in on an exceptionally clean and meticulously maintained truck that was valued at $15K by KBB, NADA, Black book, and Edmund's by offering a trade-in value of $11K. Hewlett wasted my time and seemed surprised that I walked away from paying full MSRP and having approximately $4K stolen via low-ball trade-in offer. I will not return to this dealership and look forward to seeing if the Passat TDI is a good value or not (which is not a good bet based upon maintenance costs of prior models). After visiting the website and being impressed by safety ratings, the visual appeal of the 2012 Jetta and offers such as the Sign and Drive event and Carefree Maintenance programs, I made the trip to Hewlett VW with my husband.
