They changed owners!. When the original owners had this place it was awesome. Best Gyros and Dogs going. They sold to an Asian couple and the quality and service just isn't there. They actually have a sign on the bathroom door (unless it's been taken down) the reads "For Luckys Dog Customers Only". I guess you could interpret that several ways. I don't go there no more.
Good Dogs!. Nice clean place, take the time to enjoy the pictures on the wall. Although it's not "fast food" as the sign clearly states the service was quick and brought to the table. EXCELLENT Chicago style dog, soft poppyseed bun, snap to the dog, neon green relish and fresh veggies. Yummy. Only downfall was no beer, not even bottled. They offer lunch specials for $5 - think I'll try that out next time. We only had the Chicago style dog, that's the only thing I was interested in trying although they have a good variety to the menu. Nice place, nice folks, good food.
Yummy. Oh I love this place. My son and I used to frequent this place every time after our Gymboree class. Santi and Da, the managers, were always super nice. My son loved them. The Chicago dog(jumbo) is excellent. How can you order this without the pepper. Blasphemy!
Ummmm ok but not for the price.
way too expensive for what you get and I know you say its coming from chicago but come on it cant be that expensive.
I would rather go to the pita factory across the way they dont have hotdogs but great gyros and pitas loaded with high quality meat and good good prices
25 years in Chicago and 2 in Austin... I can finally say I get a taste of home!. Hot Dogs take me back home...Truly Authentic. The pizza is good, but if they could get Home Run Inn back it would be even better. If you go don't forget the pizza puff.
A little taste of home.. (almost).
Being from Chicago, hearing about this place and how they get all of their products from Chicago, we were excited to try it out. It was decent, but still not the real thing. The beef was just ok. Pizza seemed ok,
fries ok. Hotdogs were the best thing there, hence the name I suppose. We will return, but not with the expectations we came with the first time. The good news is the kids were fooled and really felt like it was similar to our favorites at home.
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. Restaurant offers classic Chicago menu of thin-crust pizza, Italian beef and sausage sandwiches and Vienna hot dogs. Beer on tap.
The Real Deal. Too many times you see Chicago imitators, but this is the first to back it up south of I80. Granted it's not in the top 5 beefs I have eaten (Portillo's, Jonny's, Al's, Bona, ect), but they do it well and correctly. They have hot giardiniera, good bread, and a tasty beef. I make it a point to stop when I pass by, and recommend it to all transplants from Chicago. I got a chance to talk with the owners who know what they are doing. This place made my day and makes living in Texas a little more bearable. Oh yeah, they have beer too.
Great Italian Beefs and pizza.. Only place I know of in Austin to get authentic Chicago Style Italian Beefs and hot dogs. They make a great thin crust pizza and hand carve gyros. I'm from Chicago and I can tell you this place is hard to beat if you miss real Chicago style food.
