Stay Away! Charges Added to Bill For Mediocre Food!.
Stay away or they will sneak things on to your bill for mediocre food!
We were actually on our way to try out the Tequila Grill in Pflugerville but they closed for maintenance, so we decided to give Camino Real a try. My husband is a Mexican food fiend and can eat it every day! Since we're new to the area, we were looking for just the place to be our new regular Mexican restaurant.
Our server was really nice and the chips were good. The good news stops there. The food took a long time to come. We were so hungry, we ate way too much of the chips and salsa they bring to the table. We ordered a queso appetizer, but they brought it with the meal instead of ahead of time to snack on. The food was serviceable; fine, but nothing exciting. There was NO sour cream on any plate and only a tiny sprinkling of shredded cheese. Come on, it's Mexican food! Are you really holding out on the sour cream and cheese?
Because we ate our meal at the same time, we didn't eat much of the queso. Right before we left I asked if we could get a re-fill on the chips and a to-go bag for our qeuso and the chips. The manager then came to the table and asked if we wanted to have a small or large order of "to-go chips" put on our tab! I was floored! The were actually asking us to pay twice for food that was already on our table!!!
I set the food back on the table and told her to take it off the tab immediately. We left the food and went to pay. I found they had also added a charge for the sour cream I requested with my meal!
We will never set foot in this restaurant again. And we eat Mexican two to four times a week! We've been sure to tell all our family, friends and co-workers to stay away. I'm also posting this on Facebook, Yelp, Google, Trip Advisor and on my blog. I'm spreading the bad word-of-mouth as far as I can.
Hope it was worth a few chips, Camino Real.
Worst Dinner Ever!!!. So we drive by in the AM, and the sign says "Mexican Martinis & Mariachis 7PM." Well, that sounds fun right? So 7PM rolls around, and we park. Hmmm... sign just says "Mexican Martinis." WTF?! Ok, well we're here so the mexican martinis must be good if they're on the sign still. I'd have to say that they tasted just like Kool-aid. It's even worse that my 8 y/o son said his tea tasted like water. I don't think food coloring and water really make liquor or tea. The food had to be better than the drinks... well, surprise, it's worse! We were afraid we'd get sick if we ate very much. We just wanted to get the hell out so we never asked for a manager. He just happened to come over and ask how it was. LOL We let him know, and all he said was okay and walked away. We were happy to leave and stop at a drive thru on the way home!!! Good luck if you dare to eat here! Oh, and what's up with the Italian decor in a Mexican restaurant??
good mexican food.
my husband & i went there for dinner tonight. we were inpressed with the place. the food was good, hot & reasonably priced. The staff was friendly & all were smiling. The service was fast. we didn't even have to wait to long.
small, but best mex. food in town. Wonderful evening spent with my wife. I enjoyed the small quaint atmosphere, service with a smile. Drinks and dinner were great, we will be returning and spreading the word.
Best Italian Restruant in Texas. The food is always awesome please dont be to angry if its a bit slow, because their is only one real cook whos making all the food. This cook has lots on his mind and works his BUTT off and provides top notch food! I kno from experience of eating there and checking out the kitchen! I promise you'll enjoy the food and love the desert! I recommend the Steak and also the lobster soup!!!!!
A trip to Tuscany without the suitcase..
Small and cheerfully appointed with yellow walls, white Roman columns and a large, fully-stocked bar that dominates the main room, it evokes pleasant country dining. Venice Cafe has built a following of families, business diners and students alike. Penne with mildly spiced Italian sausage and fresh mushrooms is served piping hot. Pesto-covered gnocchi Piemontese feels authentic, and fresh herbs and spices make thin-crust homemade pizzas quite popular for carry-out customers.
What a joke. We ate her for the first time, and last. We were the only table in the restaurant and could not get any service!!! It took forever to get our meals and they were overpriced. The food was ok but have had better, but the service was inexcusable. I never see any cars there and now I know why. I believe in supporting the non chains, but this kind of restaurant drives me to the chains. Employees and owners should care more.
Valentines Day Disaster.
My wife and I were invited by another couple to have dinner. Reservations were at 7 seated by 7:10. It took 25 minutes to get a drink order 15 min for her to remember that she had taken our order. We placed food order in which our server acted as if she wasnt ready to take it but did any way.
I asked for the manager, manager comes over, wanted to know where our food was, she said she would check on it and took off. 8:40 food came. Next our waitress said "if you want dessert you better ask now while I'm here", we all looked at her like what the heck, she said "I'm just being honest". I do not recommend, as the food, service and attitude was unbelieveably the worst. We left at 9:10, No one offered an apology or good bye or thanks what so ever.
High Expectations - VERY low results.... After reading numerous great reviews, my fiancee and I chose this restaurant to enjoy valentines day. We made reservations and were seated. Then sat over 20 minutes before we were asked for even a water. After 10 minutes, we got our water and bread. 45 minutes later - after three additional tables had come and were on dessert - we still had no meal. When we called the "manager/owner" over, we were treated rudely. We were told "I don't work for free" by her. What happened to the customer is always right?? She personally, in a rude and arrogant demeanor, ruined our evening. I DO NOT recommed. Ever.
This place is really good!. This place is great! The artichoke dip is fabulous! I was taken here by a friend and I really, really enjoyed the food. I lived in Italy for 3 years and the food here brought me back to the good 'ol times! The waitress was great and had a sense of humor. We were seated promptly. The atmosphere is great too. :)
