Our house was built by DR Horton in Feb
2007and the A/C was installed by Christianson A/C. Yesterday I get home and find one unit compressor failed and will not start and a fun Austin summer temperature of 102. Since I'm a veteran and spent 4 years working on a variety of stuff in the USAF, including industrial A/C, I get out my meter and check the basics and then do a bit of swapping between a working unit and the failed unit.
* Voltage at compressor disconnect. CHECK
* Blower on unit working. CHECK
* Relay on compressor working for compressor/fan. CHECK
* Compressor/Fan start capacitor. FAILED. Cap is mushroomed. Swapped with other identical unit.... Problem fixed. How easy can you make it for the repair person???
We called 2 times to after hours service and the final call all I said we need is a $21 start capacitor. I had it pulled a part and ready for the new 3 terminal start capacitor ready to be installed. Total of 5 screws to install and button up the panel ready to roll. I also asked that they check the Purion levels in both units.
Total cost for non emergency visit to fix a problem already diagnosed and system ready for replacement of start capacitor and supposedly checking of freon levels.
$180 dollars. Time spent on site ~30 minutes.
CHARGE for a $21 dollar 40uf / 5uf start capacitor: $80.00 WHAT???
I think you guys need to remove the name Christian from your names as what you served up was nothing short of the devil. :-(
Key learning: Avoid Carrier ANYTHING given the issues with the coils failing as our 1st unit suffered in around 3 years, and start capacitor failure on A/C unit #2 on systems that were installed in 2007. SAD!
Shame on you Chistianson A/C & Plumbing. We're a single income family of 5 with 4 year old triplets and I do all the dirty work for you and you still pour brim stone on us.
We have used them before. So we called
them up to fix our upstairs air conditioning. It was leaking water. We have had the unit turned off since last fall. They came out and gave us price of $1800 to fix. We told them that we can't afford that much right now and not to fix the unit. We paid them for the service call and they left. They also left the unit on and while we were out of the house the unit continued to leak water that damaged the downstairs ceiling, wall and wood floors. When we called them up, they told us that they are not responsible for the damage. Customer service means nothing to them. By the way, we got another quote from a reputable company and they quoted $600 LESS!!!
Our advice is to call around and you'll get a better price and probably better customer service.
I couldn't have been happier!!!!.
My hot water heater went out Wednesday night. I called my home warranty and they sent out a plumber they had under contract the next morning. The guy came out, quoted my job and even though I not only have a home warranty AND a warranty on the actual hot water tank, I was still quoted this job at over $2100!!! That's right, $2100 out of my own pocket despite all of that. I sent him away literally in tears not knowing how I could fix this problem.
We've only been in our home for 6 months now but I remember the previous owners said they always used Christianson. So, I called them up to see if they could quote it out better. Justine was beyond helpful to me answering any and all questions I had and scheduled an appointment within the hour!!! She calmed me down and I was already feeling more confident.
Tom and Landon came out and did the install in the heat of the day, in my second story attic, never complaining once. All the while they maintained the professionalism you would expect from anyone servicing something in your home. Landon even went out of his way letting me know that my water meter was running more than it should be. He then proceeded to check every single toilet in my home to see if any of them were running constantly.
After all was said and done, I had a new hot water heater installed before 4pm the same day and it only cost me $630 for the EXACT same job that was quoted to me earlier in the day for $2100!!! All those parts and additional labor that was quoted out that morning was INCLUDED in the price Christianson gave me, NOT ADDITIONAL!
IN THE FUTURE I WILL BE USING CHRISTIANSON FOR ALL OF MY REPAIR NEEDS!
Horrible Customer Service. Christianson Air Conditioning installed the AC unit at my brand new home in 2006. First they came out in 2007 because they put too much freon in the AC unit and had to drain some of it due to this horrible noise. Then they came out the following year in 2008 to fill it up because they drained too much of it the previous year. Then they had to come out in 20-09 because it needed a supplemental power source. They charged me $300. This year, 2010, the power source failed and I am with out AC in the summer again! 4 summers in a row. They wanted to charge me another 300 for this issue. I told them no way I will find someone else. Do not use this company.
Great People! Great Service! Great Prices!. In 2007 House Medic Handyman Service utilized Christianson for all our plumbing and A/C needs. Our customer were given great service, fair pricing and the fastest troubleshooting available in the Austin residential market. We would recommend these folks over and over.
