Halcyon cycles through various hot chocolate offerings, but if you happen to arrive while the (spiked) Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate is on the menu -- ORDER IT. It's naughtier than the boys stumbling out of Rain across the street, and laced with a coat-your-mouth macadamia nut liqueur.

an enjoyable place to chill.
small and mostly quite with soothing funky music playing from the vaulted ceilings comfy couches and pillows with brightly colored pictures hanging on the walls. You can have a varity of coffees/ teas or a glass of wine to compliment
wraps and deserts or just a good book. it also has a full bar in a coffehouse setting. very cool and taste full!

The airy interior provides a suitable setting for typing away on one's laptop, studying, or socializing while enjoying a varied menu with fellow lunch breakers. Aside from the traditional coffee drinks, Halcyon offers a selection of teas, ice cream cocktails and a full bar. The ambiance shifts in the evening as candles are lit and Halcyon Coffee House turns into Halcyon Bar & Lounge. Popular amongst patrons are the do-it-yourself s'mores available for two and four people.

Good, BUT.... I work in this area and go often because it is close. The service here is awful. Slow, and then you usualyy don't even get what you ordered. The product is great, it is only lacking a competent staff.

It looks great, but........ While this place has a great location and a beautiful remodel, I cannot get past the inept and inconsiderate service that I have received by the staff on several occasions. The staff seem disinterested in serving their customers and I've seen people stand at the register waiting to be served as several staff members just casually pass by without even an acknowledgement or a greeting. On my last visit, the cashier who was taking my order was conversing with another staff member as I was telling him my order. Of course he didn't get my order and I had to repeat it. As he asked me to repeat, he loudly stated, "I'm sorry, I have two conversations going on at the same time!" I'm guessing that the Austin hip crowd is only concerned with aesthetics because that's the only thing this place has going for it.

FABULOUS!. The service was indifferent, but the drinks were tasty. Atmosphere was funky and open. Fun (and old) hip-hop playing was a nice change as background noise for my computer work. Hooray for high-speed & free wi-fi! Just watch the time, or the parking nazis will be quick to ticket your car. Parking nearby is free after 5:30pm, tho!

lame. Halcyon, before it?s new face-lift, was a cool place to grab a coffee or a drink. The new and ?improved? version lacks any character with the one redeeming quality being the S?mores. The service is pretty bad ? long wait to get a drink when not that busy. The people behind the bar are not friendly and act like you are putting them out by asking for a drink. This place could be a nice location to grab a coffee. Not sure what happened.

Good for everything eccept eating.. Halcyon is good for smokes coffee and booze, has a relaxed atmosphere and is good for winding down with some friends. Not so great for pick-ups or dancing (they are a coffee shop). They do make some good coffee drinks but their bar is limited. They just had a face lift, so their sevice is a little slow. I liked the old Halcyon. I would have given the old Halcyon five stars.

awesome atmosphere. This coffee shop is by far one of the best in Austin. There are comfortable couches and wireless internet access. I tried their cappuccino and was blown away! Great choice.

I've tried twice... Maybe I have to be a hippie to get good service???. Ok.. I eat and drink everywhere downtown... but I've tried this place twice and both times the servers / cashiers were rude to me and my girlfriend. I give up. I like the fact it's not a Starbucks, but the servers need to act like they like their jobs!!
