The ONLY club I frequent. The ONLY club I frequent in Austin. Been going regularly for 4 years. Love the people, the music, the atmosphere. Favorite night is Saturday, love my regularly scheduled Haven.
Good people, all-types welcome.
Here's the skinny - Saturday is goth/industrial, Sunday is the best 80's night around and Wednesday is where Saturday and Sunday meet. For all other nights, I recommend checking the calendar. Their events are pretty diverse, but usually a good time regardless. Halloween and other dress-up theme nights are a win!
I may be a bit biased because I've been going there since it opened, but the staff at Elysium is the best around. The owners are great people and really care about their customers.
The thing I like most is the non-judgmental attitude of the place. Everyone is welcome, in an atmosphere that hearkens back to the old days of Ohms. I saw the comment about how "uncool" someone thought the crowd was, and all I could think is - you just don't get it. You don't have to be cool to hang out here. You just need to be open-minded and ready to have a good time.
My favorite bar and my favorite people.
I don't always make it to Austin downtown for my nights out but when I do I can never pass up a night in Elysium. The people are fantastic and fun to talk to from the doorman Jimmy to the bartenders and DJ's.
You have to swing by the bars and make yourself at home. You won't regret hanging out in Austin's best Goth bar.
If you can make to one of the 80's nights they are legendary good times but any night you show up always feels a little special.
Dance, Drink, Mingle... #1 Austin Club..
Elysium is a second home to me. At some point since coming to Austin I have walked in the door of every club at least once, but Elysium is the only one that keeps me coming back.
The Sunday 80's nights are amazing. While Elysium is "the" goth club of Austin, on Sundays nights you every cultural walk of life.
I love the music and the bands. I've worn masks with DJ Boba Fett on the dance floor and shared drinks with DJ Pumpkinspice.
The couple of times I drank myself stupid, I was told I was done. Even though Jimmy scared me a little he's a great enough guy you can't help but stop and talk to him. (Can't say that about most clubs door man)
In short, great people, great drinks, great music, AMAZING CLUB!
Read the reviews & the 2 bad ones seem to be the same person. I just had to stop in for a friends gathering some time back and the door man was a bit scary "Jimmy" I was really surprised how cool every one was in that bar. Usually I have to worry about a butt head bartender or some guy spilling my drink and wanting to fight... Not here. Everyone looks like they might have issues, but if they do they left them at the door with Jimmy "who once you get to know is a nice guy and it is great if he has ur back" I have gone back time and time again for the retro nights, goth nights even some crazy parties they have put on there... Every now and then it is too packed and some times it is a slow start but I always seem to enjoy myself. These 2 bad reviews I read and well if you are anything like me... they look like the same butt munch was writing them... I think they should talk to Jimmy if they have a problem...
My home in Austin, TX.
I'm a touring musician and when I perform in Austin, Texas it's ALWAYS at Elysium! The owners have always been super amazing to work with, very friendly, and quite frankly, have always treated me like family. Chuck the soundman always does a great job... such a great job in fact, that I recorded my one and only live album at Elysium with him at the controls. I always get a great crowd of enthusiastic people there and always have a great time. In recent history I've had a new club in Austin approach me about doing a show the next time I'm in town and I told them, " I will happily stop by for a drink, but if you want to see my show, you'll have to come to Elysium". As long as it's standing, that will always be my home in Austin!

This place feels like home..
I'm old school and I've known this club since the first week it opened and was able to enter the club as it was being fixed up from the previous club and it's come a long way since then. Elysium has become like a second home for me personally. I've never felt more comfortable anywhere downtown but this club.
I left 8 years ago and am recently coming back and this was the first place I went when I got here because I missed the memories and the atmosphere... The owners are really cool and two of them are like family to me. The employees are pretty cool and some of the DJ's have been around for years. Also, where else do you find club OWNERS in the DJ booth tossing tracks for people to dance to? They always play the best music and come on, what club is better to hit on Sundays for retro 80's night?!?!
When it comes to goth industrial music and just having a good time this is the place. Hands down. I've been to Lizard Lounge *The Church* in Dallas, I've been to Numbers in Houston. Elysium may be smaller but it's a whole lot better of a club. Period.
Elysium night club ROCKS!!!.
I love Elysium!
I been to popular night clubs over seas, in DC and Atlanta, GA and I have to say Elysium is right up there with the best. Great live acts, 80’s and goth music!
The music is amazing! The Djs care about what the crowd wants to hear. They even have a request list for you to write down your request on. I have never been to a club that takes request from the crowd. I think that adds a nice personal touch.
Aside from the Djs, I have seen some of the best live acts there, not to mention some of my favorite bands.
The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very welcoming. I see all kinds of different people in there.
The place to be!. In the many years of having a blast at this place I have met some pretty amazing people and stomped the soles of my boots away. There is definitely no comparison. I love it... the music... the atmosphere... the lights... Thank you Elysium!!!
Amazing Club to hang out. Elysium is an awesome place to hang out! The Employees are always friendly and polite, and there are a lot of great people to hang out with. The music is awesome and great live bands!
