Coco's Cafe Ii1910 Guadalupe St, Austin, TX | Directions 78705
30.281796 -97.741952 View WebsiteCoco's is a less frenetic version of Momoko, and while the menu flavors are of course creative (peanut butter bubble tea, anyone?) taro milk is by far the most popular option. And they don't just serve bubble tea, but bubble tea smoothies, too.

Excellent Taiwanese boba tea drinks, shaved ice desserts & green onion pie. The beef noodle soup, rice ball & chicken nuggets are good too
Green Onion Pie.
The Good:
The Green Onion Pie is great. The Bubble Tea is tasty. They have some good vegetarian soups as well.
The Bad:
They play probably the worst music I've ever heard in my life.
The Stinky:
The place smells of sewage... unfortunately.
One of the stop I HAVE TO make every time I visit Austin. I started going to CoCo's when it first opened around 2000. I haven't tried a whole lot of different things there but I LOVE the almond milk tea with boba (tapioca pearls) and the onion pie. Sadly I try every boba place I come across in Austin ( my parents home) and Dallas ( my home) and I have never found any pearls that come close to the sweetness and texture of these. The drinks are FANTASTIC!
Fun for those with adventurous taste buds!.
THE SCENE: The dining area is colorful, bright, long, and slightly narrow due to the lot on busy Guadalupe street. The various menus are written in both English and Mandarin. The restaurant is usually full of Asian students and the servers can be heard talking to each other in Mandarin.
THE FOOD: Coco's Cafe II serves Taiwanese meals as well as many varieties of "pearl drinks"--drinks with the option of hving tapioca pearls, jelly, or fruit at the bottom. Taro Milk is a purple, sweet concoction, as well as creamy, sinful Peanut Butter Milk. The Green Onion Pie is a doughy, greasy, delicious appetizer that can be shared with another person. Peppercorn Chicken combines fried, sweet chicken with pickled vegetables and spicy jalapenos. Don't miss on Bacon Pork; it doubles the fat and calories, but who cares, it makes you happy. The Eel Steak w/Rice is a tasty dish; a massive slice of sweet, broiled freshwater eel tops a bowl of rice and unique Taiwanese vegetables.
