Good, cheap, and friendly. I write this at the risk of this place getting too popular, but it's just such a better place than the other place down the street (you know, the one with the "cute" name and the crappy service that all the office folks go to). Great place for lunch, kid-friendly, clean, no B.S. Look for the lunch special and enjoy the Univision!

East Side Mexican restaurant with authentic food and authentic atmosphere.. In Short
Stepping into Chapala in East Austin is like walking into a lunch restaurant in any city in Mexico. Latin soap operas are on the TV, a jukebox has Norteno favorites and the staff is welcoming and friendly. The menu features nearly 25 selections for under $6, including big burritos, chicken tacos, cheese enchiladas and other classics. A daily special is writting on a board next to the door, offering a $1 off the dish of the day. Soft drinks and Mexican sodas go great with lunch, while Tecates and Dos Equis are more common with the dinner crowd.
