In Short – Originally a wedding gift from Thomas Wooten (a founder of UT) to his son in 1900, this grand colonial mansion has been restored into a stunning boutique hotel. Its majestic setting includes the exterior's white, soaring columns and the interior's opulent chandeliers and wood floors. The 48 well-appointed rooms are decorated with deco and antebellum touches and include Edwardian-style furniture, high-speed Internet, 310-thread count sheets, L'Occitane bath products and digital CD stereos.
Wonderful evening

My husband took me here for my birthday and it was really wonderful. He reserved the "library" off the bar, just for us. the staff put candles all over the place and combined with the beautiful room it was a very special night. The menu was recently changed to be "small plates". So they have wonderful dishes like sea bass, tuna and duck, but the dishes are smaller so you can order 2 different dishes for the same price as 1 entry usually is. the small dish prices were about $10-13 each. the sizes were good and we ordered 4 small plates to share and we were full at the end! highly recommended!
- Pros: excellent food and ambiance
- Cons: none!

Our party of 7 made reservations for an early dinner. We arrived separately but were allowed to be seated without all of us there at the same time and we ordered cocktails. I appreciated not having to wait until the total group arrived to be seated. We ordered a variety of appetizers and each were equally delicious. The dinner selections were all very good and dessert as well. Each of us were served at the same time as servers came from two directions to our table. Our needs were met before we knew to ask. It was a pleasant and delicious experience for our group. We will be going back.
BEST DINING in AUSTIN

Of the dozens of times I have come back to the Mansion for dinner I have never been disappointed. It just seems to get better each time. The lobster beignets are absolutely divine. The service has always been outstanding. I go and try other restaurants in town but they pale in comparison to the quality of food and service the Mansion has to offer. The dining room is wonderfully cozy and intimate. I have taken my children there on several occasions and they were creative with a "child friendly" dinner. I just can't say enough good things. This is truly a FINE dining experience that cannot be beat.
