The Place for Gorgeous Hair. Ava is the best! I always leave her salon with movie star gorgeous hair. People constantly ask me where I get my hair cut.

After moving from New York I had a hard time finding someone talented; now I won't go anywhere else. Even when I moved to Houston, I commuted back to Ava. People in Houston would ask who did my hair and became discouraged when I told them I go to Austin! My mom still drives from Houston for a hair cut because she gets so many compliments and never has a bad hair day; Ava knows hair, and knows how to make you beautiful.

Great salon, great staff, great service, but most importantly -- movie star hair!

Fabulous Hair, Wonderful Caring Staff, A Second Home. I have been a customer of Ava Hastey for 12 years - even before she opened Amaz For Hair. She is a wonderful, caring, giving person who truly cares about the quality of her work , about her customers and about the community. For the past 12 years, I have not trusted my hair to anyone else. She also cuts my children's hair, my nieces and nephews, my sister and my father. Going to her salon is like therapy for me - I can go in feeling stressed and frazzled and come out feeling relaxed, like a new person, ready to face the world again. Ava will do whatever she can to make all of her customers feel comfortable and cared for and I highly recommend her and her fabulous staff. I always look forward to my next appointment because I know she'll take good care of me and my family. (and for slwa1978 who commented below - must be a man who can't understand the value of a really good salon - if all he's looking for is "cute girls" he should try Sexy Scissors and leave the high quality salons to those who appreciate them)

Sounds like someone has a personal issue. I have no idea why some people have the need to be so rude? I know people go to his site for reviews, but not for nastiness. Sounds to me like a smear campaign, maybe by a former employee. I know that's been known to happen on this site. No need to be hateful. I've known the owner for over 20 years......she is someone to be trusted for her amazing talent and her compassion.

Absolutely terrible experience. I had gone to Ava for haircut and highlights. Three days later, the hair at my crown began breaking off. Ava had left the highlights in too long while she attended to another customer. When I called her to inform her, she told me it was my fault because I didn't purchase one of her expensive Kerastase products, then told me that she woudn't believe me unless I came in to show her. When I made it into the salon, she kicked me out.

Never before have I met such a selfish, incompetent hair dresser. I have no doubt that this review (as with all reviews that are less than 4-5 stars) will be removed from this website, as Ava is diligent in trying to weed the truthful ones out as quickly as possible.

That's just who she is.

Thanks Brenda!. This review is long overdue! I moved to Austin 7 years ago, and spent the first 3 trying to find the right stylist. I tried one after the other, which all came highly recommended. Then, I finally found Brenda at Amaz!

Before Brenda, I just thought that it was typical to leave the salon thinking "I'll get used to it." After 3-4 times at each salon, I knew it was time to switch again. It's been 4 years now, countless highlights, color, treatments, and cuts from Brenda, and I haven't once left Amaz for Hair feeling this way. It's exactly the opposite, as I always look so forward to the next time I get to go back! Not only do I leave with hair that feels & looks great every time, but my time spent there with the staff always makes for a great day. Brenda is extremely talented and knows how to make everyone's color and cut exactly how they want it. If I am feeling indecisive, I can trust that she's going to surprise me with something I like. Thank you Brenda for everything you've done for me!

I WON'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE. Ava Hastey has been cutting my hair for over twenty years. Not only does she give a fabulous cut, she is a fabulous person with a great, though sometimes crazy, personality. I wouldn't let anyone else cut my hair, except maybe Brenda--in the opposite chair. I also just enjoy going to AMAZ for Hair as it is so relaxing and all the people there are special.

Exemplary color!. What do you look for in a salon? I look for a place where I can get reliable, consistent results from a caring, congenial team. At Amaz for hair, you're always welcomed, cared for with special attention, and your hair is colored, cut, and styled with loving care and with your personality in mind. Ava, Brenda, and Jara are the cream of the crop, and their teamwork is evident. Treat yourself.

Thank you for the experience! Best wishes!. I wanted to write briefly about my experience at Amaz for Hair. Every time I called to make an appointment at Amaz, the staff was personable and professional. I have been a client of Deklynd's for approximately five years and followed him everywhere he has gone so I wanted to thank Amaz for letting me know where Deklynd has moved to! I will truly miss the salon as each experience was a good one - Brenda also did my hair once when Deklynd was unavailable and she did an excellent job! Thanks for all of your hard work!

a lovely place to get your hair lookin' right. When I need to get my style on, I always go to Amaz. They've just gotten all of the details right. The folks there are charming and do consistently good work. And even though they're busy, I always feel comfortable and well taken care of in this shop. Having my hair cut there is one of the few luxuries I won't cut back on.
