So Glad I Found Selena. Over the years I have walked into Topaz several times and always have found a good hairstylist willing to take the time to understand what I want and take the time to give it to me.

But when I walked in just before Thanksgiving last year and Selena available, I really found a hairstylist I love.

I am not a "hair" person. I truly have hated the chore of getting a haircut and I don't want to have to fix it each day or do anything more than wash and dry it. Selena hasn't tried to change anything about my approach, she doesn't push "products" on me, or make my life more complicated. She has given me great cuts that I can maintain easily and now -- after facing gray for a long time and not knowing what I was going to do with it -- she made it easy for me to get some highlights to hide the gray.

Selena is well priced, always willing to find a way to make an appointment work for me, and is fun to chat with, too.

Paul is the Best Colorist I've Ever Had/Best in Austin. I am at that certain age where I'm deciding between a nice silver with lowlights, so I went to see Paul, because I was tired of that flat, harsh dark look so many women my age have, and that I had.

I went in with three inches of silver roots (very pretty actually) and about four or five inches of the nastiest green/red/splotchy out of a box brown. Seriously hideous.

I went out of there with perfect hair- better looking than when I was a true brunette back in my teens.

Let me just sum up why I will never go to anyone else, and if he retires, why I'll just let my silver hair grow out:

1. He truly, truly, truly knows the science of hair color. He knew precisely what my original color was, even though it was covered over with silver hair (I had a little original left) and covered over with nasty Walmart dye.

2. He studied my coloring and assured me that if I wasn't ready to go grey, he would do it right so that it wasn't harsh or unnatural looking that would clash with my age or complexion.

3. He discussed my options and when I was indecisive, I knew that he knew what he was talking about and trusted him to make a decision about what shade combination would look best .

4. He took three hours to do my hair. I had over one hundred foils on my head when he was finished in about three or four different shades (I have chin length hair).

I'm telling you, this guy really, really, really knows what he is doing.

Besides that, he's a freaking perfectionist. He even has his own choice of lighting above his booth so that he can see the true color of your hair.

So, I expected to and was prepared to pay close to three hundred dollars or more for all this highlighting, lowlighting and color correction. It was about half that.

We worked out a doable maintenance plan, I came home and I can genuinely say that my hair is beautiful. There is dimension, body, beautiful highlights and lowlights where they should be.

I usually look in the mirror after a dye job and simply regret not having my old, sixteen year old brunette hair. But today, I can say my hair looks better now. Honestly.

Paul has got my vote as the best, most knowledgeable and meticulous hair colorist I've used in thirty years of messing with my hair.

Detailed Perfectionist, Yet Never A Bore. I have a very frustrating cowlick and needed to look good for a family reunion/wedding (or regret the millions of photos later on). Jacquie Nguyen was a pleasant surprise. She does not cut any corners while perfecting the details of your style, and she was particularly creative with my cowlick--making it more of a highlight when I see it in the mirror now rather than something that refuses to be styled. She is professional, but also will be upfront if necessary. I like leaving the place knowing I got my money's worth! Good feeling.

Selena Weiss - Miracle Worker :). Selena Weiss is amazing! I had a major hair issue...I had seen a stylist elsewhere and she seriously messed up my color trying to turn brown into blonde. When she tried to correct it from minor brass, it turned into MAJOR brass. It literally looked like I had an orange blob on the top of my head (a co-worker said it looked like I rubbed lemon on my head then leaned toward the sun). The back of my head didn't get colored and remained dark (compared to the orange color on the top it was HORRIBLE) and there were orangeish blonde chunky streaks on the side of my hair. Can you say tiger? Needless to say, I was having a 911 hair emergency. I got Selena's information from a friend and contacted her for help. She immediately set an appointment for me on her day off (Sunday). When I showed up the salon was SO cute...very relaxing...and fortunately next to a starbucks ;). Selena checked out my disaster and knew exactly what to do. The orange blob is now a nice shade of light blonde with lowlights (what I originally wanted) and the back of my head matches the front. The chunks are gone replaced by natural looking highlights. What a lifesaver! Seriously! I will not let anyone else touch my hair from here on out! Thanks SO MUCH, Selena!!!

Nice salon, Aydrian is a pro!. Topaz has a cool atmosphere, and you get a free beverage for showing up!

Getting your hair cut by Aydrian Rayda will be the highlight of your day.

She's a cool person who will understand you when you describe your perfect haircut. She also gives awesome suggestions if you're not sure what you want.

I feel relaxed in her hands knowing she's going to make me look good.

Aydrian is amazing! Best cut/color and head massage. I went to Aydrian recently and loved her! My cut and color were great and just what I wanted but better! I know I'm going to keep going back to her. What I really loved more than my perfect bangs that hit in just the right spot and the gray covering brilliant brown hair color was the most AMAZING SHAMPOO AND HEAD MASSAGE OF MY LIFE! I left the salon the happiest ever had.

Love me some Aydrian!!. I've been going to Aydrian for over a year now, and I couldn't be happier!! I have fairly thin hair that I am in the process of growing out, but Aydrian knows exactly how to cut it to give it great style and volume! I also get my roots and highlights done, I can tell her to jazz it up or make it more natural, and she knows the exact colors to use to make me happy. She knows what I want and what my hair needs! I get tons of compliments on my hair, and there is no hesitation in referring Aydrian! Besides being a great hair stylist Aydrian is super nice and friendly, she makes getting your hair done an enjoyable experience! Check her out, you won't be disappointed!

Erin Armstrong @ Topaz Salon. Before I talk about this, let me give you a little background: I've been going to Erin Armstrong (former Gardipee) for several years. I come from 5 generations of hair dressers/stylists/beauticians so I KNOW hair and I'm very picky about who does mine. Erin was introduced to me by my best friend and I was hooked from day one. Even since I've moved from Austin to Houston, I still travel to Austin every 6 weeks or so to get my hair done by Erin. Not only does she do fantastic hair (color and cut), she also gives great advice on how to keep my hair manageable and healthy...which is why when she became certified in the Brazilian Blowout, I was first on her list to get the treatment.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! My hair is thick and fine..which means that it tangles and frizzes without effort...after I got the Brazilian Blowout, my hair is the smoothest it's ever been. Extremely manageable. I highly suggest it: Once more, though, I highly suggest ANYONE receive any hair treatments, highlights, colors and cuts from Erin. She is one of the best stylists I've ever come across...Re price: let's just say, you pay for what you get...I don't have any qualms with the price because I have 100% faith in her work...and that's saying a lot coming from my family. Go see Erin. Your hair needs her.

MONIQUE IS AWESOME (and does extentions!). I moved out here from California and (gulp) had to find a new hairdresser. Monique at Topaz is by far my favorite hairdresser in Austin. I've been going to her for a couple of years now and I've never left unhappy. She does really great hair cuts and uses great color - my hair turned out exactly like I had hoped it would.

Added bonus - she does EXTENTIONS!! Sooo hard to find someone who not only does extentions but does them well. Really reasonably priced, real hair and they look amazing. She helped me pick out the color, order the extentions, etc. and they match my hair perfectly. Mine are put in using little bonds and you seriously cannot see them or tell that it's not my hair. Mine usually look great for about 4-5 months and don't fall out.

Seriously can't rave enough about her.

Doenst get better than Aydrian. I didnt dislike my current stylist, I just wasnt wowed by her. My coworker who's hair always looks fantastic referred me to Aydrian. And let me tell you, WOW!! I have longer, layered hair and didnt want to lose much length, because of this I always assumed there was not many options. Boy was I wrong. Aydrian was able to rework my layers which gave my hair movement, volume, and life it had never seen before. My highlights were equally as impressive. Aydrian gave me a very natural highlight but still managed to add interest. If you dont love your current stylist go see Aydrian, you will love her!
