Hotels >Mansion At Judges Hill
Mansion at Judges Hill is a treat for the bride and groom looking for an extravagant wedding venue, or even just the dating duo out for a daring meal at one of Austin's fanciest restaurants.
More often thought of as a wedding venue, the historic, aristocratic Mansion at Judge's Hill has some truly inventive culinary treats hiding out in the kitchen -- basil marshmallow creme? Lamb bacon? I didn't know you had it in ya, Judge's Hill! Undo your belt buckle a notch and order the fried cheese plate, which comes with fancy little flourishes, like a tiny pitcher of maple syrup.
Great hotel BUT... It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at goo.gl/FPxYD They have some of the best hotel deals on the web!
Surprising History & Food!. This was a great stay-cation experience! We wanted to escape everyday life and treat ourselves. Not only was the Hotel an excellent choice but the restaurant was outstanding and unique. We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast in a spectacular dining room, which we learned had an amazing history. The service was enthusiastic and attentive. Our food was fresh and tasty, as sometimes breakfast can be the most overlooked service for many hotels. I'd recommend Judges breakfast for tourist and locals alike. Rich, both, in taste and historical context!
Great Food. The food and atmosphere were awesome! Great Staff, Great Service, Great Food. I would eat here again and again...
Beautiful setting - lousy food. I was very excited to meet my friends here for the "Sip & Savor" event in Austin. However, first I was ignored by an Asian bartender for 10 mins (she was busy re-arranging stuff behind the bar). Then the food was served - the appetizer was good (Boudin Balls) however, the short ribs that followed were mostly lard and tasted aweful! I was looking forward to the 3-desert plate, which consisted of cheese cake, a brownie, and a red-velvet cake ball. All were terrible - I have never been so disappointed. Won't be back for sure.
Do not buy this hotel through Groupons.
I bought the Mansion at Judges' Hill in Austin hotel through Groupons. The hotel does not have any weekends available for the Groupons Queen room. Either I have to stay during the week or pay extra to upgrade during the weekend. I think they over sold their Queen rooms through Groupons. So I end up paying extra to stay during the weekend.
I'm not very happy. Why do I need to pay extra to stay during the weekend? I think this is very deceiving. My husband thinks it's a scam. I already paid for the Groupon. Why do I need to pay additional to stay at the hotel? After 2 experiences with hotels through Groupons, I will not buy any more hotels from Groupons. It is too much hassle and costs too much at the end. Also, I don’t get the dates that I want. It is cheaper to book the hotels through Hotels com, Hotwire or other websites and I don’t have to prepaid for the hotel rooms in advance and not knowing if there is additional charge besides the taxes and the availability.
Also, the food at the restaurant is good but we had to wait for more than 1 hr to get our food. If it wasn't because I had the Groupon for the restaurant, I would have walked out the door.
I apologize for your experience. As you can imagine, with the Groupon expiration date quickly approaching we are quickly running out of our Queen Groupon rooms on a large number of dates. As a favor to our guests, we accept Groupons when the Queen rooms are sold out & simply charge an upgrade fee. Even with the upgrade fee the rooms are still at a considerably discounted rate.
We appreciate your stay at the Mansion & have a great day!
Romantic time in Austin. I booked a room at Mansion at Judges Hill after reading about it on Citysearch and it was very much as described. I made my reservation over the phone with Jackie and she was extremely friendly and helpful. I told her exactly which features I wanted in the room (canopy bed, bathtub and patio) and she was able to work with me to find the right room in my price range. I was even able to get the '2 nights for 1' summer special. The room was huge and romantically southern - we had a wonderful time. We chose to eat dinner at a restaurant on 6th St. called Parkside - which was fantastic. If you go, you must order the El Rey chocolate brownie dessert - it was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The only food we ordered at the hotel was the breakfast burrito from room service and it was excellent, as far as breakfast burritos go. But I understand the restaurant at the hotel is very good. The only drawback was that we had to take short cab rides to get to the main walking areas in town. They were not very expensive but it was inconvenient to call a cab every time we wanted to leave. However, we asked the cab drivers a lot of questions and learned about some cool places to see. All in all, it was a very lovely trip!
I'm so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your experience with us at the Mansion at Judges' Hill! Thank you for your review, I'm sure Jaqui will appreciate that you took the time to recognize her. Thank you for your review & I sincerely hope you will return to our hotel and restaurant for a relaxing weekend or a nice dinner.
Have a great day!
Wonderful evening. My husband took me here for my birthday and it was really wonderful. He reserved the "library" off the bar, just for us. the staff put candles all over the place and combined with the beautiful room it was a very special night. The menu was recently changed to be "small plates". So they have wonderful dishes like sea bass, tuna and duck, but the dishes are smaller so you can order 2 different dishes for the same price as 1 entry usually is. the small dish prices were about $10-13 each. the sizes were good and we ordered 4 small plates to share and we were full at the end! highly recommended!
Excellent service and great food.. Our party of 7 made reservations for an early dinner. We arrived separately but were allowed to be seated without all of us there at the same time and we ordered cocktails. I appreciated not having to wait until the total group arrived to be seated. We ordered a variety of appetizers and each were equally delicious. The dinner selections were all very good and dessert as well. Each of us were served at the same time as servers came from two directions to our table. Our needs were met before we knew to ask. It was a pleasant and delicious experience for our group. We will be going back.
Great Little Place!. My husband and stayed here last weekend and loved it! When we checked in, we did not have any problem finding parking- we talked to the person at the desk and they said they had been constructing an event cener but that it was completed. We sat in the courtyard under the trees and drank wine- it was lovely and relaxing. The rooms are beautiful as well... very nice beds and bathrooms. It's just a cute little hotel in the middle of downtown Austin that makes you feel like you're in an oasis. Great staff too- super helpful and just downright friendly.
Food was wack!. Food was overpriced, dining room was stuffy and cold. NOT a place to impress a date, but a place to empty your bank account. This place needs to be redone from top to bottom! What happened to you Judges Hill? The hotel portion is good if you like sleeping next to a frat party and a smelly old dumpster.
