Great Salon, Great People, Great Hair. I've been going to Brittany at Maximum FX for a little over 4 year and I love her. I refuse to go any where else. She's fabulous at what she does and will steer me away from styles that she doesn't think will be good for me and she's always right. I go every 4 weeks to have my hair colored and she does a super fabulous job of keeping it virtually white. The entire staff is also very friendly and they remember me and my name, and other personal information about me. I've only had one problem with my hair - and that's when someone else toned it - and they were quick to correct it at my request, free of charge, and were very gracious about it. I absolutely love Lila, the manager. She is super sweet, friendly and informed about what is going on in the salon. If they've ever had scheduling conflicts, she's personally called me to either reschedule or to find another solution. They are verry good at working around my schedule. They also call me on a regular basis to make sure I'm still happy with my color - which I always am. Brittany is great and well informed and keeps up to date with current hair "news". In the four years that I've gone to her, her prices have only gone up once, and that was only slightly. I'm constantly complimented on my color and cut and recommend Brittany and Maximum FX to everyone that will hold still long enough for me to tell them about it. I'll keep coming back to Maximum FX, and Brittany is the best there is.
Worst experience. This salon is really overpriced. I had a color and cut and I paid 150. My hair turned out to be 4 shades darker than what I asked them. The haircut was below average, I am not even sure that they cut any hair at all. The personnel was very rude especially the guy at the register. I urge you to stay away, really awful experience.
Both Locations-Bad luck!!.
I first tried the Escarpment location. I was impressed by the nic salon, my stylist was sweet but I dont think she heard a word I said!! She did specific things I said I did not want! She was so nice but did not listen at all!!!
Then she tried to style my hair like hers.
Round 2: I had a coupon for 10$ off so I sent my husband to the S. Congress location. I called ahead to ask for a medium priced stylists. They set me up with someone who was 55$. My husband comes home & tells me he paid 55$ before the tip. Either they ignored his coupon or they put him with someone who was $65. When asking about cost, I pay close attention so I know it wasnt our error. Brittany did give him a GREAT haircut but we would never pay these prices again!!
Maybe it was just bad luck but I wont go back!
MAXIMUM PAYCHECK anyone?. They need to change the name to MAXIMUM PAYCHECK because that is what it will cost you ladies. I went in for a partial highlight. While doing my hair, Juan "suggested" I put in a color a shade lighter than my natural colour. When I got to the front desk, my bill was for $170.00. I was quite shocked at how pricey it was but the management was extremely unapologetic about it.
Love this place!. I just moved here a month ago and always go to Aveda salons. I was referred by a friend a friend at work who wouldn't stop talking about this salon. They gave me the great Aveda experience that I am used to from my previous salon. Front desk person was very warm and sweet. I can't remember her name. I was offered a stress relieving treatment when I checked in, which was a nice touch. They also gave me a hand massage while they were blowing my hair dry which was relaxing. I saw Brooke who gave me a great haircut and I saw Monica for my color. Turns out that she is the salon color educator. I love my new color! I'll be back.
Nice salon, if you like stylists who ignore you. I came in with specific requests and a large photo of the haircut I wanted, which I already had but was grown out. My stylist didn't talk to me, and didn't even look at the picture even though I pointed to it as I explained the different aspects of my cut. I placed the photo on her mirror and she still never glanced at it. She was rough with my hair, silent, and completely ignored ALL of my requests. My hair looks absolutely nothing like the cut I had or the picture. She took too much off even though I specifically said I really didn't want that happening. I knew at the beginning of her cutting that she just wasn't interested in trying to give me what I wanted. She did nothing that I asked, and gave me a super boring trim (that being generous). Absolutely terrible. Don't go to Erinn if you have any idea of what you would like your hair to look like, if you like people who seem interested in their job, or if you want your scalp to feel okay afterwards. Its a shame because its a beautiful salon with nice reception.
DONT GO HERE!. Sounds to me like the management rights their own reviews to counter the negative ones. I have come to this salon since it was on the drag and it has changed so much I will never go back. Counter help is rude, I made an appointment and when I got there they had moved me to someone else without telling me. If I go to salon and my appointment is with a particular person thats who I expect to see. My complaint went unheard and the owner Chris said thats just the way its going to be. As for the cut and color itself...ill spare you the details and just say avoid this place or suffer. Ill be going to Wet instead...sorry MFX your no longer on top in my book.
Wouldn't go anywhere else!. I've been coming to this salon for years and have watched it grow, especially in the last two years. I'm not sure about the previous comments but I always have great experiences at this salon and spa. I know that they haven't changed their management at this company, but I do know that they have made some changes to how they are doing things here. I can't imagine why anyone would be upset about that because I think that their service has actually improved. For example, I always get a hand massage when I get my cut and color, which is so relaxing. They offer me free stress relieving treatments on every visit. They are always on time, and they started calling me back a couple of days after my color service to see if I was happy with the color. I've been going to Javier there for years. He's little more expensive, but he's worth every penny. The front desk staff knows me by name and I always receive a warm welcome when I come in. They also have a new location in Circle C Ranch which I hear is really nice too.
From Good, To Awful.
I went to this salon for over a year and was pretty happy, until recently. My last visit I had partial highlights, underneath color, and a cut, which is rather pricey but I love Aveda. Anyways, a few weeks later I noticed lines and spotting from bleeding highlights. I didn't notice them immediately because they were underneath on the opposite side of my head from where I part my hair. I've been told there is also quite a bit of spotting and bleeding in the back as well. It was Amanda who did my hair, and she definitely had to notice the bleeding because she cut/styled my hair after she highlighted it. So I called to have them fix it, and the person who answered was incredibly rude and accused me of wanting free highlights. So I've switched to Avant Studio downtown. I've been happy so far...they're not pretentious and do great work.
Avoid the crappy salon and customer service at MaximumFX.
Used to be great, now avoid at all costs!.
I used to LOVE this salon. The ambiance is lovely, and the people are (usually) friendly. Before they changed their management, I had the most wonderful colorist. I've been back to Maximum FX 3 times since she left, and the last 2 times were horrible. They turned my hair yellow and acted like everything was perfectly normal. When I went to work the next day (service industry); it looked so bad that my supervisor actually let me take a 3-hour "break" so that I could go back to the salon and have them attempt to fix it. Rather than getting rid of the yellow, they added low lights. I now have yellow hair with orange streaks.
I can't believe they let me walk out of there looking like Perez Hilton TWICE! To add insult to injury, they were sure to tell me all about their products that I could purchase to try to fix the color on my own. For $150, I don't want them to tell me to spend more money and to essentially do their job for them.
Like I said, I used to love this place and would recommend it to anyone and everyone. A lot of people have quit in the past few months, and no one who actually passed beauty school is left. Talk about beauty school dropouts...
