Best Hair Salon
by area man at Citysearch
I have been going to Joy for over a year now and I am consistently amazed every time she cuts my hair. First of all, I am horrible at communicating what I want done, but somehow Joy always does exactly what I had in mind. She listens and is very creative.
My hair grows out of my head funny. One side its down and the other side it is straight out. For years my hair had always looked awkward, but now Joy makes it look great. She was very patient showing me how to use the recommended products. With the right technique and good products I can quickly make it look like it does when she styles it.
The owner, Randy, runs L7. I have noticed a correlation with how much I like a place and how involved the owner is. Randy used to be one of the owners Capelli Salon (which was great by the way), and now he is the owner of L7. Everybody at the salon is always in a good mood, you get a free beer, there is cool music playing, and I always look better when I leave.
Great Haircut!

I just got home from getting first trip to Capelli Salon and it will not be my last! The staff is so friendly and I felt really comfortable there, not like a typical salon in that regard! My hair looks wonderful thanks to Joy and she took her time so I really feel like I got my moneys worth. The price was just right too, I was actually kind of surprised because I got a lot of hair cut off but it was very reasonable.
- Pros: Friendly Staff, Welcoming, Talented
Awesome awesome awesome!

I have been to every salon under the sun - from high end spa-type salons that charge $100 a haircut to trendy edgy salons and have yet to be completely happy with a haircut and the salon.
This has all changed since my visit to Capelli. I searched through a lot of reviews and did a lot of research and thought I would give it a try based on the high recommendations. Boy am I glad I did! The salon is perfect - it's small and homey and cute. Everyone there was super nice and welcoming and it was a very comfortable and non-intimidating experience unlike some other salons I have been too. My stylist, Ann, was fantastic. She took the time to ask me what I wanted, look at my hair and figure out what would work best for me. She was thorough and made my hair look amazing. I love it. I had a lot going on with layers and bangs and she made it work. I finally feel confident about my style again.
I am going again for color in April and cannot wait! I will recommend this salon to everyone I know - this is the best of the best. Ann is fantastic - awesome stylist, awesome personality and awesome salon. :)
Best cut and color

I've been going to Capelli for about 5 years and have never had a bad experience. Denerae is amazing. She always gives me the best cuts and/or color and if I go in and have no idea what I want, she works her magic! I've been to other salons and felt like I was treated like a nobody because I'm not a typical trendy place kind of gal. But these very cool and chic people made me feel so comfortable and I don't mind spending my money there, whether it's on the services or Bumble and Bumble products.
- Pros: relaxed, fun, chic, great cuts and color, inexpensive
- Cons: parking
hair snob? this is the place for you.

when it comes to my hair, i am ridiculously selective. before moving to austin two years ago, only three people had ever touched my hair in 26 years. i took a leap of faith and went to david @ capelli per the suggestion of a good friend; he is also pretty snobby, er, picky about his hair. i could not have made a better decision.
my first visit with david was to chop off 14 inches of my thick, curly brown hair (i'd been growing it for eight years and decided it was time for a change), and i felt bad for the poor guy for getting such a nutcase new client freaking out about losing so much hair. but he was sympathetic and encouraging and assured me he would give me a great new cut. and he most certainly did. i walked in with hair down to my butt, and walked out with a super cute shoulder length 'do. they also took care of the paperwork/procedure for donating my hair to locks of love.
i've been going to david ever since. he is an expert on how to cut curly hair (which is hard to find), and is great about listening to and doing what you are looking for. not to mention he's super fun - i always want to stay longer and talk to him :)
the salon is quaint and funky, and david has also gotten me addicted to its bumble & bumble products. i was a cynic who thought drugstore products did the trick just as well as the salon stuff, but using b&b has changed my opinion (and my hair) entirely. their curl conscious line is amazing, and is totally worth the price. and with the steal i get for my visits to the salon, it totally evens out. i pay far too little for the amazing service i get from david and capelli. i. love. this. place.
- Pros: great price, great products, great service
- Cons: limited parking
