While I can't vouch for the plumbing or electrical departments at Fox, the HVAC department is phenomenal. Before we bought our house, we were renting and we called Fox when our AC went out. I had same day service and a very courteous technician came to our house. He removed his shoes when he came in and spoke in layman terms regarding the repair. After we bought our house, we needed to replace the entire AC system and weatherize. Not only did they provide us a reasonable estimate (we priced out a few other companies in town), but they helped with our city rebates and financing. I would recommend Fox to my friends and neighbors.
fast service. Very fast service . Really needed to get air back working in this heat . They came fast and we thought the cost was very fair .
Fox has been my service company for years. We've used Fox for years. Thier technicians are always courteous and they never leave a mess. They are not the cheapest in town but always provide great service for the price. I also use them at my business.
House Repair Services. Fox has been an excellent service company for heating, air conditioning, and electrical services. Their staff are very capable, friendly, efficient, and thorough in the work they have done. We have used their services during the past 14 years or so for maintenance, repair, and replacement of heating and air conditioning systems and also for the repair and installation of a number of overhead fans with their associated wiring requirements. One example must be given. One AC unit began to operate erratically. The technician checked the entire unit, examined the remote distribution components in the attic, and inspected the piping feeds connecting the units in the system. He found the problem to be a minute sized leak in a refrigerant pipe which had been incorrectly installed by the original supplier (not Fox). The leak was in a buried underground conduit below the house foundation! The repair required a full day to resolve due to the existence of a fire ant bed at the point where there was a need to excavate and the need to pull the refrigerant line through the opened conduit. This was done on a rainy day. The technician was thoroughly drenched by the time the repair was completed and should have been very unhappy. Yet he found time to explain the entire proceeding to us and was very informative as he proceeded. The bill when it came was in line with what the initial conversation had estimated. We are extremely pleased by their workmanship, their promptness, and their services. They provide all that one expects from a service company and more.
How much to replace that faucet??!!! You gotta be kidding me....
So I called Fox to come out and look at replacing a faucet in my bathroom shower. It wasn't going to be a real simple job because a component behind the wall would have to be replaced. But access would've been easy because a section of sheetrock can be removed to get at it. The Fox tech took a quick look at the job, and then went out to his truck to write up an estimate.
Well, was I surprised when he came back with a quote of $568 to do the work! I'm no expert, but my guess is that an experienced plumber could get this done in an hour or less. What a rip-off. Don't call these guys unless you just have no other option. I decided it would be cheaper to just pay the service call fee and get someone else.
Will not provide you with a cost estimate over the phone, you will have to pay for a Diagnositc visit.. I just got off the phone speaking to a customer service person with Fox. I knew well what the problem was with my A/C. I ran over the freon line with my mower and it emptied out, otherwise their was no other problem with the a/c. I had received two estimate of costs from other companies, A+ and Strand Brothers. They were very kind over the phone and gave me an idea of my cost based on what I had told them. Fox, on the other hand, told me they do not provide phone quotes at all, and that a repair person would have to come to the house to do the diagnostics at a cost of $58. Then, he could give me a cost estimate. Granted, if the estimate turned out higher than the other ones I had received, I would would still be out $58. Perhaps Fox cost is lower, however, this way of doing business discouraged me from using them. Customer service is when the customer is being served and tended to without having to pay upfront.
Editorial Review. Central Texas repair service that works on A/C and heating, plumbing and electrical problems for homes, offices and construction sites.
Call a local guy instead. Fox told us that we needed to replace our A/C four years ago, but I decided to get a second opinion so I called an A/C guy that is independant (Mr.Cool). He told us our unit was perfectly fine and that he could easily fix it. He did, and we are happy four years later. I wouldn't trust Fox. They are too expensive and try to get more money out of you. The local guys are much better.
