Very Disappointing.
After hearing it was the only place in Austin where you can get true brick oven style pizza, I suggested to my friends that we give it a try. We tried several personal size pizzas. Both the
portobello mushroom and the truffle w/ prosciutto were just ok, nothing outstanding and just not worth the price. Mine was sort of cold. The pizza Margarita was the biggest disappointment. Folks, I have been to Italy, and I know what true Neapolitan style pizza is, and this is not it. It's just sad they are trying to make the comparison. It was NOT a true pizza Margarita. (where was the fresh tomato puree? Or even the fresh mozzerella? Or ANY sauce or ANY cheese for that matter? It was merely 4 small pieces of crust, each topped with a 1/2 inch thick slab of unripe tomato on some wilted basil. If you can't do something correctly, why even bother?) Also, it was nowhere near a $10 pizza, it was more like a $4 pizza. The salads were way overpriced too, for what we got. The soda was even flat and gross.
The one thing we ordered that was good was the calzone, it was generously sized and tasty with Italian sausage and peppers. Unlike the individual pizzas, it was filling. It was also the only thing we ordered that looked like it had just come fresh and hot from the oven. The sauce it came with on the side was the most generic, boring stuff imaginable, but by that point, I don't think any of us had any real expectations left. We spent so much money, but left still feeling hungry and unsatisfied. I don't think any of us will be back.…
Try the Tiramasu. I would go with the pizzas here over the other dishes just because the pizzas are so delicious. We really like the portobello mushroom and proschutto. Make sure you save space for the Tiramasu as it is some of the best I have tried.…
