Austin >Lodging > Bed & Breakfast Pool & Spa
HORRIBLE!!! Stay Away!! Far Far Away!!! This place is evil, Like the Bates Motel. The house is for sale, the owner spends nothing on upkeep, she doesnt even stay there at night, this is no "spa" this is an old house, the neighbors cat kept coming for food, the mosquito's never quit, the owner turns the air conditioning off at night to save money, during the summer no less, I took the guest house and a room in the main house. Hairs in the sink, dirty coffee makers, light bulbs burned out that I had to change myself, trains roaring at night, she promised internet that only worked 25% of the time, I booked for a week, after the first night I said I wanted to leave, the owner said leave but she would not refund my money, once I wanted to leave she took it personal and we never saw her again, no housekeeping, dirty used soap bottles, no breakfast, the list goes on, run, run far away!!!
Way Overpriced, Take Your Money and Run.
We stayed in the East Wing. If you are looking for a peaceful atmosphere close to downtown Austin this is the spot. The spa/pool was very nice though a bit on the chilly side unless you specifically ask them to heat it up.
Now for the bad. To begin with, Jule was a little abrupt on the phone. She informed me that she was having a party the first night, from 6pm-1am, and would give me a $50 discount on a $200 a night room. This seemed a little low since we would have to vacate the room for the better part of our first day. A few days before check in I called to confirm and she had completely and surprisingly forgotten about the discount. She then tried to low ball me at $25 but finally remembered it was $50. Once we had arrived she went ahead and charged my card and again, shocker, forgot my discount. She said she couldn't figure out how to refund my card and would have her son figure it out later. He ended up giving me cash later. Upon arrival Jule gave us an orientation on the highlights of the room. Both the massage table and chair were practically antiques and neither were very relaxing. The centerpiece of our room were the dual gift shops, complete with GIFT SHOP INQUIRE WITHIN signs. They consisted of garage sale like items and other miscellaneous junk. The last thing we wanted to look at during a relaxing and romantic weekend were tacky knickknacks. The bed was nice but hard. The skylights that Jule brags about on the website are intelligently positioned facing East so we were both woken up at dawn by the morning sun. Covers of some kind would be nice.
Finally as for the "breakfast" it consisted of day old fruit and pastries, still wrapped in the Whole Foods package she bought them in. For the amount we paid for this weekend the least she could have done was bring down a fresh breakfast or heaven forbid try to fool us by microwaving the pastries and serving it to us without the wrapper. At least make us THINK you prepared them, lady.
