In Short
It feels like a neighbor's home that's been converted into a casual Mexican diner, with comfortable booths and colorful chairs and tables. Chips with piquant salsa are served immediately. The Al Pastor entree is a popular entree: roasted pork with pineapple that suffuses the meat with sweetness. Salvadoran dishes include savory pupusas (pork or cheese-filled fried masa with refreshing, pickled cabbage slaw) and fresh, cheese-stuffed chayote squash--egg batter-fried, but still light.

We went there last night to try the mole based on these reviews and it was the worst mole I had ever had in my entire life. I couldn't even swallow it. My hubby got the impenadas which cost about 7 bucks and they were super tiny and tasted fairly okay. By no means was it great. It was literally an appetizer not an entree as they implied on the menu. Service was extremely lousy and unprofessional. We left in a hurry vowing to never return again. I don't think I'll be searching for a review on this website again based on this experience. I can't trust the source.

I went here for lunch and ordered the enchiladas with mole sauce. The mole was REALLY good! The place itself isn't very fancy (in a strip mall), but the food makes up for it! Parking is decent, since there are a number of businesses next door with ample parking.

I moved out of state a couple years ago and I still find myself missing Elsi's on a Saturday morning! Their chilequiles with verde sauce and a fried egg on top is one of my favorite dishes. The atmosphere is welcoming and the food is great.
