You can find their courtyard with the flowing fountain situated across from the Wells Fargo. They're now in the historic Union Hall building, and from your courtyard table you can see the banks of the Colorado River peeking out from between the buildings across the street. Easily they have the best food for miles: the quiche, pizzas, paninis, lasagnas, salads taste so fresh and flavorful. The owners and many devoted regulars are also some of the nicest and most interesting people in town.
Green Chai cafe in Bastrop, TX. Always my first stop after a drive from Austin, the Green Chai is an Oasis for me when I visit the little down of Bastrop, TX. There is simply no other place to get quality vegetarian fare in town. My personal favorites are the Chai (the drink) margarita pizza and the chocolate chip cookies (try the cookies). the atomosphere is always calm, the music chill and Matt (the owner) and his help are always friendly. AA+++
Best Quiche I Ever Had. This little cafe is fabulous!! The Spinich Quiche was to die for and was made even better by the outdoor seating overlooking the Colorado River and a beautiful meadow. Treat yourself!!
Totally vegetarian, with some vegan. Green Chai was an amazing find as I never expected to get a good vegetarian meal in Bastrop. We had the special of the day, moussaka, which came with soup or salad. The homemade soup was wonderful as was the entree. This place is in an old building, overlooking a park and the Colorado River. The owner/cook/waiter was very pleasant and efficient. You have to try this place!
Green Chai Cafe. Absolutely the most original and delicious food we have found lately. A great place to stop on your way to Austin. Great views of the Colorado River, wonderful coffee and fabulous food. You can tell owner's, Erin and Matt Barker, take enormous pride in their establisment. We'll be back!!!
