GREAT NEW MANAGEMENT and NEW BAR

by Tragicisbeautiful at Citysearch

The new management of the County Seat has just done an all out excellent job of turning this into a place that EVERYONE needs to go. It is family owned and you get treated like one of the family for your whole meal. They have put in a great bar upstairs with all types of CHEAP beer and margaritas and also wells drinks. The food is based on good ol' fashioned home cooking and is excellent as far as taste and portion go. The building is historic and interesting and is in a great downtown location in Georgtown right by the courthouse and the shopping. Great place to spend a day. They now serve breakfast too!!!!!! Also, catering is available and they have a beautiful banquet hall upstairs overlooking downtown georgetown. All in all this place is wonderful and the people who run it are even more wonderful. Please give it a try because I know you will keep going back. You can meet freinds at the bar for drinks or just have your meal and ice cream but either way you can expect 100% quality. That is certainly what I got :)

  • Pros: full bar upstairs, excellent home cooked food, location
  • Cons: NONE

Great food, great staff, wonderful owners

by hrlymk at Citysearch

I've tried just about all the area restaurants in and around Georgetown. The County Seat is by far my favorite. Being from NY, but just country boy at heart, I found the ambiance just perfect. The menu is hometown and delicious with some extrordinary specials cooked to perfection by their award winning chef, Terry, who co-owns the restaurant with his lovely wife Terry (no, not a misprint). One quick note on the owners. They are hands on, friendly and two of the nicest folks you'll ever meet. So if you're looking for good hometown food with some great specials, The County Seat is your place. Though if by chance you'd rather try some of the overpriced NY wanna-be restaurants, which I reckon could start a wildfire in these parts but hardly a puff of smoke back home, it's a "free" country.

Great customer service

by Sunshine513 at Citysearch

My husband and I have eaten here several times. The food has been really good every time. Our waiter has only been Alex. He has given us great service with a smile and a sense of humor. He has made our dining experience fun. We enjoy the atmosphere as well.

Apathetic staff doesn't want you eating here

by mikentx at Citysearch

We attempted to eat here the other night after shopping. It was 5pm on a Wednesday night. There was only one table of four eating in the restaurant. After standing at the front waiting to be seated or greeted for about 5 minutes, in full view of a waitress upstairs who was stocking a wait station, I decided to use the bathroom. As I passed the kitchen, a manager (I assume because he was older, wearing a white shirt and tie and talking to a cook) saw me go by. When I came back out, still no one had come to seat us. The waitress was still stocking the wait station upstairs. Another gentleman had come in and was waiting like we were. After a few more minutes, he eventually grabbed a menu from behind the host's podium, so we did the same. This act finally motivated the waitress who was stocking the wait station to come down. She took a to go order from the man who had came in after us. After he placed his order, she turned to us and asked "Are you here for dinner?" We said yes. She said, in a tone that implied we were stupid "Well, go ahead and take a seat and I'll be with you in a minute." No offer to get us a drink or even be bothered to show us to a table. She walked off and went right back to finish what she was doing at the wait station. We briefly took a seat, but then the person I was with said they didn't feel comfortable and the waitress had made them feel unwelcome, so we got up to leave. As we were leaving, the man who had placed the to go order smiled at us and sarcastically said "what's wrong?" My guest said "I can get snippy attitude anywhere." Thanks for embarrassing me and giving my guest a horrible impression of Georgetown. Never again.

  • Pros: Prime location on the Square
  • Cons: Lazy, disinterested staff
