Example of what's wrong with Healthcare!!.
If you are looking for a simple prescription for contacts or glasses go somewhere else. If you are having serious vision issues this might be the place for you.
All I needed was to renew my prescription so I could order new contacts and after the exam was given 2 kinds to try. Both were fine but my understanding was "to try" was to see what ones I liked better. I then tried to order online the ones I liked and was told not approve and I needed to contact the Dr.
I called Tech Ridge they said I needed to come back for a follow up visit to see how they were working. I have never in 30 years of wearing corrective lenses/contacts HAD to go back for a follow up visit.
Due to my work schedule and only 1 family vehicle I was not able to get back right away. Once I did go back to get my prescription I was told by the receptionist I needed to schedule a follow up visit. I told her I needed no visit and wanted the prescription (most expensive exam I ever had by the way) she got the Dr who started to tell me how legally they did not need to give me anything.
After I explained how legally I was going to pick there establishment I was finally given the prescription. He also wrote the prescription in a way that I can ONLY get a only one exact make, model, brand so I can't even look for a better deal online.
To sum it up in my opinion Tech Ridge is EXACTLY what is wrong with health care in his country. They over charge and keep you comming back to milk the insurance company's. One last note I was asked not only did I have vision insurance but who was my health care provider?
First and last time to this place.
A recent change to my insurance prompted me to check this place out and my husband had been seen by Dr. Kitchen. According to my husband Dr. Kitchen is a pretty decent doctor.
The ladies up front were typical office personnel asking for the insurance card, fill out the forms, etc... My appointment was made on time by first meeting with Valerie, who fits you into a pair of frames and processes the initial tests prior to seeing the doctor. She was very nice and we conversed for a good while.
I met with Dr. Wolf who failed to introduce himself, provide instructions where I needed to move my head (he hit me on the head twice with the equipment), speculated I may need a bifocal prescription even before running the exam, and came across as just rude. Upon actually starting the exam it took entirely too long, I was in the exam area for well over an hour. (Only to find out my prescription had not changed.)
After the exam the final selection of the frames was done with Valerie and payment was made. Only for the good Dr to take up more of my time as he had to still print out and sign my prescription.
Upon picking up my new glasses, I was met by Valerie who this time was too busy. As I sat waiting for my glasses she took a call to schedule appointments and didn't even say "excuse me" or "sorry about that". As she ran my card for the final payment she proceeded to speak to another patient and never even bothered to say "thank you" until I was out the door.
Maybe I went in on their "bad day(s)" however I will never recommend and/or go back to this place again!
Feel upset and cheated.. Not happy with the service. My children went in for an eye exam. They saw Dr. Wolf who specializes in pediatric eye exams. He was asking my daughter to look a certain way, and when she didn't understand him, he knocked on her head with his fingers. It would help if the doctor explained to the kids what he is going to do before he does it. Also, my daughter bought a pair of designer glasses which came with a cute black case with pink in inside. She was given a bulky faded blue boys case with a different brand, a bottle of cleaning solution but no cleaning cloth. When we went back to get the correct case we were told they only had one case for her brand and it happened to be a cheap plastic sunglasses case. We plan on buying her 3 more pairs of glasses this year, and a new pair in January when we are covered again, just not from this place.
Helping me through MD. Recently diagnosed with macular degeneration, I've come to care very much for the people at Tech Ridge Vision. It's a difficult thing to lose your eyesight, and they've been nothing but wonderful. From diagnosis to treatment they've consoled me and lifted my spirits each time I go. Great doctors, warm-hearted people, excellent medical care. I truly appreciate them. I recommend this optometrist office for sure.
Exceptional service.
I went in for my annual exam, my appointment was right on time! I had some eye tests done, and then saw Dr. Wolf. We talked about the things he was seeing and what steps would help me, it was explained very clearly and he's easy to talk to. I then checked out some frames and talked about what lenses I wanted. The women who helped me was awesome! She will give you good advice. (thank you!)
But really, if you are looking for eye care try them out, you won't be disappointed. :)
Don't Get Ripped Off (like me) !!.
I took my family there for the standard annual glasses exams because they said that they accept VSP. A couple of weeks after, I was sent invoices for an extra $136 - $189 per person for the exam, AFTER medical insurance.
It seems that they bill all exams to your medical ins (e.g., BCBS) instead of to VSP. They diagnose "medical conditions" such as myopia (nearsightedness ) and conjunctivitis (inflammation) due to allergies so that VSP won't pay and BCBS might or may not pay.
So be sure your medical deductible is met or, if you have major eye problems, go to an ophthalmologist. These people are optometrists who charge ophthalmologist rates. They'll bill your medical ins around $400 per standard glasses exam. If you haven't met your deductible then you'll have to pay the charges. Even worse, the contacts they pushed for my daughter didn't fit right but we're still out of the $100 contact fitting fee. My glasses won't stay on....
Bait and switch and unbridled greed is what they are. Don't be stuck with a huge bill for what normally costs $100 (or covered by VSP) elsewhere. We're stuck with almost $1000 for exams, glasses, and eyedrop prescriptions!
Helpful and friendly office. Dr. Kitchen is very professional, informative, and friendly. The office staff is efficient, friendly and helpful. Very personalized care.
Excellent service is still out there.
I'v been to Dr. Kitchen's office twice. Once to have something removed from my eye. I had no appointment, and they worked me into their schedule by seeing me 15 minutes prior to their office opening. The second was for an eye exam for glasses. Everything was explained to me in detail, and my glasses were available in less then a week. the optician Valerie was extremely helpful in choosing frames that fit my face and I'm very glad I listened to her input. Terra at the front desk was very personable. If you are tired of unpersonable, inefficient, unprofessional medical treatment, then Tech Ridge will be a welcome change for you.

Awsome Doctor, Great Manners. I've been with Dr. Kitchen for 1yr. I was recommended there by my mother in law who has been going there for maybe 6 yr.s. He is a good Dr., he knows his business and he doesnt try to sell you what you dont need. In fact if your paying in cash he very helpful and inexpensive.
Tarah is great!.
Didn't have my eye exam done there, but found this place when pricing contacts. They easly had the lowest price (25.00 compare to 39.00 from my other dr). They have a good clean office with great information. Dr.Kitchen seems to have been around for a good while and has lifeling customers.!!
