I don't think we turned our heat on once in the last billing cycle yet our bill was still $150. Not sure how that is possible, but it's definitely a monopoly. Wish some lawyers would get involved and file a price-fixing suit.
1 star rating is too much, how bout negative 1 star??. worst company ever, that unfortunatly has the monopoly here in the austin area. the gas price is outreageous, what is the monthly 10$ account fee for? and why does it cost an absurd 12$ to pay over the phone???? even an online payment via credit card has an almost $4 charge on it!!!!
Even a 1 star rating is too much. I have a small 1000 sq ft house, am almost never home and rarely use the heater or cook, and yet my most recent bill was an outrageous $150! If that's not insulting enough, there is no option to pay the ridiculous bill online, and to pay by phone there's an absurd $12 service fee! I looked into my options to change to another company, but Texas Community Propane is THE ONLY OPTION in my neighborhood. How is it possible in the land of antitrust laws that I have no choice in service? The next time I buy a house, I will know to research my utility options as well.
customer service is not bad,.
Since I moved in my house early this year, I haven't had any trouble either on gas hook up, orientation, billing, or customer service. I do admit the orientation is a bit expensive, but it worths the money at least for me. As for the monthly account fee ($15), I think for a 24-hour no charge for show up to fix your gas leak, and maintain the pipe, this sounds reasonable. It is more like buying a gas leak warranty with no copay for service.
I am not with the company, and I remain believing they are the monopoly. But since they built, and keep maintaining the pipe underneath the community, it is still reasonable for them to get some fee from their customers. Although I feel the monthly account fee can be reduced, they should deserve the 5-star rating, at least for customer service. After all, you can get rid of them and switch to all-electricity utility by changing your water heater, AC, and gas range.
better than most. In the 3 years we have had service with TCP, I have never had a problem with service or billing that has not been immediately resolved with a phone call or email. We recently had a small leak discovered by a meter reader and within one hour they had contacted us, had a field representative out and the problem fixed. While we would have never known the difference, the customer service manager made sure we where aware and what what they where doing to rectify it. The honesty and the follow up we got in the form of an email and callback to go over any safety things or concerns we had impressed me. Never got that from a public utility anywhere else we have lived.
Very Helpful Staff and Exceptional Service.
We had some issues when we moved in to our new house in trying to get our propane set up due to some negligence on the part of the previous owner.
The customer service rep at Texas Comm Propane was great in making sure we got hooked up and service on line the next day.
I appreciate the time they took to go over all the safety info with us as well on premise.
There appear to be several negative comments about this provider, which i assume comes with the territory, but our experience was painless and much appreciated.
Gas company has monopoly..
First of all, its outrageous to pay a $250 dollar deposit for new accounts, plus an up front initiation fee of $95, totaling nearly $350 just to establish gas service to your home. There should be more than one Gas service to choose from so there's not a monopoly over the neighborhoods that are forced to use this company. Particularly if your home has a gas furnace.
Professional bills in legal size envelopes would be better than post cards. There is no on-line method for making payments. If you make a payment by phone, you are charged $12, which is extremely high for this kind of service.
Regulation is needed here.
TERRIBLE COMPANY. Texas Community Propane is one of the WORST companies I have ever come in contact with. They leave you on hold for extremely long wait times, have an incompetent rude staff, and charge $350.00 for a deposit along with a $95.00 set-up fee, not to mention their ridiculous "meet and great" schedule that you MUST attend during normal families working hours. This is ridiculous and because they service housing additions that CAN'T choose for themselves who they use, they basically monopolize the market and make their own rules. There is not one other propane company in Texas that charges a deposit fee of $350.00 and the very few who do charge a deposit fee keep it under $100.00. They should be ashamed of themselves and they should also know that I plan on doing EVERYTHING in my power to have our HOA give them the boot. They messed with the wrong young professional this time. To put it bluntly this company gives sub par service, has idiots for employees, and charges you 3 times the normal amount for a deposit that you have to wait 2 years to ever get back, and makes you take off work to meet one of their workers at your home to collect their check.
Avoid gas appliances on new homes if TX Community Propane is the company providing services!. I have lived in Hutto 6 years and cannot believe the prices of propane in our area! Shame on the MainStreet builders and developers that struck a deal with these bandits! Yes my house payment is less , but the price of the utilities and the cost of gas for our commute is not worth it! TX Community Propane needs to be regulated, their billing system is often incorrect and we have to call for payment! Disconnect notices make it faster than the actual postcard bill! WTF is the 10.50 charge for ?
Most Expensive Gas Service.
The price of the gas is outrageously expensive. We have to think twice or three times in order to use our spa in the back yard.
Their billing system with little post cards is bad as they often get lost in the mail (probably stuck in the junk mail) They don't have any other billing method. I have to call them to ask for a copy of the bill or I get charged a late charge.
I wish we had a choice of company to get our gas from and would change immediately
