I went from a brick to a working computer!!. My two-year-old Dell Inspiron completely shut down the night before a presentation. After the stress cleared, I was able to have my computer "diagnosed," and apparently the motherboard was shot. I couldn't afford a new computer yet, but I also couldn't afford to pay someone the same amount to repair the computer that it would cost for a new one. So a little bit of searching and I found parts-people on-line. They have an amazing selection of parts as well as wonderful how-to videos. I ordered a refurbished motherboard from them (with free shipping, I'd like to add!), and installed it myself, using their instructional video combined with the Dell service manual (which has pretty detailed instructions). I went from a brick to a working computer!! I hope I can get another 2 years (at least!) out of this computer, but if I don't, I know where to go! As an add-on, I plan on recycling my old motherboard with them.…
Issues Resolved Over Time. Negative review retracted. A representative is working at the moment to fix the issues I had with the service and I will amend this review as necessary. Learn from my mistake and make sure every dollar you spend on service is accounted for.…
Stellar service!. New Dell fan: $50. Labor for replacement: $20. Keeping my husband from "fixing" my laptop: priceless. My Dell Studio laptop fan developed a buzzing so loud and obnoxious that my dog thought a critter was trapped inside the case. I delayed getting it fixed because most places take three to five business days, and I use my laptop for EVERYTHING, including work. I can't afford that kind of downtime! But when my darling husband downloaded laptop fan replacement instructions from a Chinese-language website--and he doesn't speak Chinese--I realized the problem was about to get a lot worse if I didn't find professional help. Maybe I got lucky, but I took the laptop to Parts-People and they swapped out the fan for a mere $70... and best of all, it only took them a few hours. No, wait, best of all, the fan is QUIET. I got back to work without anyone realizing I'd been gone. Parts-People, I love you.…
If you live in Austin,I challenge you to find a better place. I go to UT austin and found this place while trying to repair my xps screen. I used to get my parts from this shady place in houston because it was cheap but i'm so glad I found this place. It says on their website how they are small enough to offer great customer support and that couldnt be more true. I was in traffic for an hour trying to get there before closing and the guy at the front stayed an extra 20 min on a FRIDAY past closing time so I could pick up a part. He was even nice enough to direct me on the phone to the front of the store (since I have a horrible sense of direction). I'm trying to think of any con just so I can talk about two sides of an argument, but there really is only one side. So if you are a local, and ever need a part, just stop on by and talk with them. The are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, not to mention nice and easy to talk to. So many other electronics places I've been to just don't care at all about their customers...that and it seems like half of the parts are stolen.…
