Tips for Mason Properties Inc

March 11, 2013

I highly recommend Mason Properties and I'm sure that for every complaint that may have been posted below, there are at least two or three people who didn't take the time to write a recommendation!

I had serious reservations about renting from a "property management company." When you rent directly from the owner things tend to be less "corporate" feeling. At least that was what I used to think. I happened to have some great luck with my previous land lords so I was worried about having to deal with a bunch of ladies who work at an office.

The truth is that these ladies are super friendly they work out of a home, not some heartless business suite, and they were always there for me when I needed help.

Thank you so much for everything!

Horrible Renting Experiance. If I could give them no stars I would, this company is terrible. DONT BE FOOLED BY THEIR FRIENDLY DEMEANOR, these people NEVER return phone calls, or answer emails. It is extremely frustrating trying to reach them for anything, especially when you are pressed for time, I would NOT recommend this company to my worst enemy.

I have rented from several larger companies in the area, and as much as I hate to say it, this small company simply cannot handle their properties, rent through a more established company if you dont want to pull your hair out from frustration.

Awful!!!!!!!. I have rented from Mason Properties for the past 3 years and have had the same experience as others. I have chosen to stay in the complex as long as I have because of the location.

They do not return phone calls or emails and do not take responsibility for maintenance issues at the expense of their tenants. I think it is immoral that they can get away with it and that property owners have no care for how Mason handles their business.

Do not rent here. Love the property we live in but our maintenance issues were never addressed. They rarely answer the phone or return calls. When I would go to the business house I was always greeted with friendly smiles but that was about it. I have never had such trouble with a management property before and hate to say that corporate apartments have always been a pleasant experience and I was hopeful that a small business experience would be great as well. Too bad because the apartment is in such a great location.

Awful Customer Service. My roommate and I had a terrible experience with Mason Properties. It's been bad since the day we moved in. Our move in day was scheduled for a Saturday, and they told us to call them before going to get the keys. We tried to call them 3 hours before we went to get the keys (before we left to drive to Austin with all our stuff). They didn't answer. We continued to try to contact them on our drive to Austin; no one answered. We finally just showed up at their HOUSE and no one would answer the door. After 10-15 minutes, someone came out from behind the house asking what we wanted. We should have known dealing with Mason would be a pain after this.

All the reviews that state that trying to contact them is troublesome is right. They make you go on their website to fill out a service request, and then take forever to get back to you. My roommate and I had to fill out four service requests in order to finally get Mason to get someone to come out to fix our mailbox so we could actually get our mail. Don't even try calling them. They usually won't answer.

My roommate and I moved out about a month and a half ago and we still haven't gotten our security deposit back. Two weeks ago they told us they were "revamping their accounting system" and they'd get back to us. They didn't get back to us. We had to contact them again. They then told us that our deposit was "processing" and we should get it in a week. It didn't come. We called again, and Billie said she just got 40 packets on her desk that Monday and she'd get back to us on Friday, and if she didn't call....then to call her. She never called. We called her 3 times, and we got no answer. We called again today (they finally answered) and were told that Billie was in the hospital and there was no other person who could tell us about the deposit (we do feel bad that she's in the hospital, but someone else at Mason should also know how to deal with deposits for emergency situation such as this one). We asked to speak with the owner and were given a number to contact her at. We called Mrs. Mason herself, and no one answered.

I would NEVER recommend renting any property that is managed by this company. If you ever see a property is managed by Mason, I would seriously reconsider renting it.

Best Property Managment. Mason Properties has been listing my property for four years now...... I feel so comfortable knowing they are watching over my investment They not only care for the property but are very diligent in filtering the applications so as not to rent to some one who might be disrespectful to the property.

Many Thanks to the team at Mason Properties for all their hard work......

Renter beware. Well they don't offer to give 0 stars, so I had to give them a "one star". It looks like I fell victim to the same problem as other folks. They simply do not return calls....ever. The property I rented was a 3 bedroom place. But I had several hundred roomates...rodents! And lots of them. After numerous complaints they sent a pest removal company, who put 4 rodent traps down and left, never to return. The property had a pool and underground irriagtion. Sounds great right? Well a pipe burst (not from freezing) in the irriagtion system and dumped 70,000 gallons into the watershed system. My utility bill was $1100 that month. I received NO HELP with the bill, even though the pipes are old (30+ years) and it wasn't my fault. I called and emailed them relentlessly for 4 months with no call back, accept an email saying I was responsible for the bill. The AC unti on my house was held together with wire nuts and duct tape and was very inefficient. Still no help. They just let my utility bill average $700/month. If you do get ahold of them, do not expect empathy. They are cold and uncaring. Customer service is not on their priority list. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT USE THEM. They should be out of business with the shady dealings they do.

Shammers. This company had extremely poor customer service; They became our property managers the last month of our lease. It took almost two months to get our deposit back after having to deal with the unreturned phone calls, if they even answered the phone at all during regular business hours. To top it off, out of our deposit they took bogus charges for cleaning which my roommate and I had thoroughly taken care of upon move out and we were even complimented on by both the maintenance man and the manager of mason properties. They also charged us for new hardware to be installed in the bathroom that never existed the entire year we lived there.

This company is over all a shady business that i highly recommend NOT giving any of your hard earned money too. They will do their darndest to screw you out of it, with poor customer service to boot.

Very Professional, very personable, and very responsive to any call I make!. I had a horrible time finding a new place to rent in Austin when I decided to move back into the area. The apartment complexes were either too big and overbearing, the office personnel were snooty or rude, and many of the places I looked at just weren't worth the price they were asking. I hate large commercialized resort type environments (except for vacation occasionally) and I knew from experience what it felt like to live in Austin years ago - live oak trees, neighborly folks all around, easy access to most anywhere, etc. When I found Mason Properties (through an agent) and I looked at one of their properties, I felt I had come home. Not only was the property immaculate, although an older property, the grounds were beautiful and the complex was quiet. Not only was the location and conditions of the property well-cared for, but the employees of Mason Properties were friendly, hospitable, and very attentive to my needs. I will always tell people who I have rented from and will only recommend Mason Properties! Not sure what the poor ratings are about; I suspect those reviewers have been attracting what they were getting in return.

Responsive, attentive, and caring. I am a professional who travels extensively. Recently, I needed a place in Austin, Tx. for 6 months. I called a real estate agent who suggested I contact Mason properties. My experience with this property management company was exemplary and professional. This company found me the right place at the right price .
