Austin >Sushi Japon
Best Sushi Place.
Let me start off...I love this place! I've been coming back to Sushi Japon for several years now and I feel that I have not been disappointed yet. Besides having the time to create a type of customer relationship with all of the staff, they are always so welcoming and greet me as if I am the last customer they will ever have at their restaurant.
My food has always been prepared to how I like it even if I wanted to add or take something out. The fish is great quality and I have never been sick from eating there. The rice itself is great. Perfect texture and perfect taste. They have all of your basic rolls and much more. They will go out of there way to make any kind of roll for you as long as they have the supplies for it.
There drinks are delicious as well. My favorite is their Lychee Martini. It is very sweet and taste a lot like Lychees. I advise trying it.
The staff is very generous, especially with her regulars. They always remember what I like and what I do not like. On my Birthday, they have sung to me and given me like a free roll, dessert, or even like a drink. They always surprise me with something.
The menu is great and has a wide selection. I've been there when its packed and when its at its slowest and the service I got was fantastic either way.
I recommend anyone to go there
great food and best service. I went to sushi japon one day and i had a great experience. i like japanese food and at sushi japon it was really nice the service was fast and the food is awesome plus the people are really nice. Esspecically the bar and the front desk. If u want to bring a date next time or just have a good time with friends I highly recommend this place.
You can get much better sushi in Austin.
We went for lunch, where I ordered the sushi plate with 6 pieces of nigiri sushi and 3 pieces of california roll. I was told they were out of toro and encouraged to order "hamachi toro", which I assumed was the belly piece of the hamachi, for $9. I was told that this hamachi toro was to hamachi as toro is to regular tuna, so I decided to give it a try. My companion ordered the shrimp tempura bento box.
At first sight, I was struck by the tiny size of the pieces of sushi. I mean, grocery store nigiri and California rolls would dwarf these. I was also disappointed that they included fake crab and overcooked shrimp as two of the nigiri. Anyway, the sushi rice was fine, but none of the fish tasted really good. The maguro tuna was the best. The so-called hamachi toro was nothing like toro. It was extremely firm and a little bit oily where toro is soft and tender and spreads around the mouth as you eat it. It would have been ok for $2.50 a piece, but not $9 for two, especially given the tiny pieces.
The bento was ok, with two pieces of tempura shrimp and five or six of tempura vegetable.
There's really no point in having sushi at Sushi Japon except for the staff. The people who work here seem really warm. On the other hand, when the waitress asked me how I liked the hamachi toro after I'd eaten one of the two pieces and I told her I was very disappointed, she did not offer to take the remaining piece back and not charge me. A really good restaurant would have done that.
good food and service. If you go to dine at sushi japon expect to eat a delicious meal. Everything is well prepared. The service is wonderful and everyone is friendly and attentive. It is a great place to bring family & friends. Both the sushi and the habachi grill foods are out of site or should I say out of this world!
Best Sushi in Austin - Hands Down. This place is absolutely fabulous. The combination of food, service and atmosphere makes it my favorite restaurant. The owners are incredible. They are extremely friendly and have worked very hard to provide the best food and service in Austin. I applaud them for being friendly and very accomodating, which seems to be lacking in so many restaurants these days. Once you go there, the other sushi restaurants in town will seem to disappear.
best sushi. Best meal of my life, hands down. everything was fantastic. I would go everyday if I could afford it. Definitely a Must try!!!you will not be disappointed..
Best Japanese Restaurant I've Been To. I have been to many Japanese restaurants in various locations around the world. This is by far my favorite, both in Teppanyaki and in flavor. Their sushi is amazing, especially the Fatty Tuna role (and it's reasonably priced at 2 pieces for $8, quite often it's $10 per piece). Usually most restaurants that do show-cooking are flavorless, but even my wife who doesn't like meat ate every bit of steak/chicken served to her. Also, the staff are very courteous and attend to your every need. Definitely try the peach sake if you get a chance.
excellent food and service. We took the kids to sushi japon steak house for a special outing and they absolutely loved it. The chef entertained them and they absolutely loved the food. All we heard for days after was how good it was and when were we going back. A great place for kids or for a romantic meal... I would highly recommend it.
great hibachi food !!!. Our whole family went (12 in all) to celebrate my 12 year old son and my mother -in-law's birthdays. We had a blast. We were entertained by the wonderful chefs and the food was excellent. Our waitress was so attentive, we didn't want for anything. The quantness of the resturant was very appealing and even though we had a large party, it was easy to see and talk to everyone. The food was delicious and the service is unbeatable. The menu "seems" a little pricey BUT what you get for money is unbelievable. We originally had reservations for kobe's but friends highly recommended sushi japon Steakhouse and said they'd never go back to the "other place". I'm with them. We've found a new family resturant and can't wait to go back again
Excellent food, great atmosphere and service, reasonable prices.
I have been to Sushi Japon a few times for an after-work snack at the sushi bar and always found the atmosphere pleasant and the service very nice. The sushi chef is always the same guy and is nice to talk to, along with the servers. Tonight I went with a date and again it was an excellent experience. We started with some Edamame and the excellent Gyu Tataki appetizer, which is thin slices of seared (rare) beef served in a delicious ponzu sauce. Sort of like steak sashimi - it was great! We got a bottle of cold sake since they actually have a good selection at the bar. The server was knowledgeable about the selections and recommended a bottle, which was from California and was good enough. For sushi, we tried the Kevin's Special Roll - asparagus tempura and masago inside, topped with lightly seared tuna, lemon zest, and spicy sauce. This is an excellent roll, one of the best in town. We tried several kinds of nigiri sushi including Sake Toro, Unagi, Toro, Anago, and Hamachi Toro (was not on the menu but the server told me about it). The toro was amazing, as I would expect at the $9/piece current market price. The sake toro was fresh and delicious, which is great at only about $5/2pc. All of the fish was delicious, the cuts were very generous, and the prices are very reasonable for fresh, quality fish. The service was excellent, very attentive, and our server seemed very interested in how we enjoyed everything, recommendations for our next visit, etc. Dinner came to about $90 for 2 people including a $15 bottle of sake. Overall, pretty reasonable for this caliber of food and service.
Don't let the frontage road location scare you away. The service and food are top notch. This will now be one of my first choices for good sushi in Austin. A+
