Tips for Original Pancake House

Good service, higher prices. I like Pancake House -- been there several (4-6) times. Service is very good, with hard-working wait staff, sometimes they seem short-staffed. Wasn't as busy last time, maybe due to new competition nearby.

That said, it is not my "first choice", like it could be. I haven't been to others, but while this is a very GOOD breakfast place, with fresh-made plates of pancakes and omelettes, DO the prices really have to be so High??? For one plate of whole-wheat pancakes, one $8.99 omelette plate, and 2 coffees, our bill was about $21 after tax. Coffee was $1.85 a cup, and it's not even very good.

This is the "signature" coffee blend they say they have in their info ? Also, the main site shows a the original Pancake House to be a quaint old-fashioned coffee shop. I might not mind paying $22 for breakfast in a place like that, but this IS in a strip center.

With all this said, it wouldn't take that much to raise this place a whole star in my book -- like give us a break on the coffee prices, unless you are offering primo good coffee! It leaves you wishing you could sneak in a cuppa Starbucks from a few stores over. Also, if they could just lower the prices just a little.... I would go there more often.

Best breakfast anywhere. I've gone to the Original Pancake House in several states and this one is right up there with the rest of them. The food is made with all real ingredients, made fresh and hot, or cold as necessary, as you order it. Nothing here comes from a premade source. What this means is the food tastes outstanding.

There is a downside, being a great Breakfast restaurant means that folks will flock there when they are commonly free at breakfast times, thus, if you go on a Saturday, or worsse a Sunday after Church, expect a line up and plan ahead. Also note that since the food is made fresh, it will take time to get to your table... to me, this is a sign of a quality restaurant, since it takes time to make quality food fresh AFTER it's been ordered. Be patient, your patience will be well rewarded!

Very Enjoyable. A good home-style breakfast. Accommodating service. Sometimes you need to wait for a table but not an extensive wait time. Nice presentation. A very nice meal that is satisfying.

Just not up to par!. I was so excited to see that Austin actually had one of the famous Original House of Pancakes. Unfortunately, after trying this location several times, its get my thumbs down. The coffee is not the usual best in town, the waitress just don't seem to understand that they should serve the toast with the breakfast instead of after you've eaten your meal. The Dutch baby is very good, I'll still give them that. But I think next time, I'll stop at IHOP for breakfast and then come in to Original House of Pancakes for a Dutch Baby. Sorry guys, you really need to work on alot of things and make this place the Original House of Pancakes is supposed to be all about.
