Wallet-friendly wares: The quality of the clothing varies at Strut, but I've found plenty of dresses/pants/tops at this affordable boutique -- and they haven't fallen apart on me. The style here is very LA: Think empire waists, flowy shirts, and purses large enough to tote a small animal.
good for a fast, cheap outfit..however....
Honestly, this store can very much be compared to forever 21. The buyers are obviously buying from the same place. all of the clothing is made out of the same material. except strut charges 30 dollars more. truthfully, as much as i like going in there when i'm bored or need a cute, cheap pair of shoes..that company needs to seriously go into higher end stores and take some notes on how REAL customer service is given. It is completely ridiculous how people are ignored. I visit the south lamar location at least twice a month and, as is everyone else, i am completely ignored. trust me...I am a 5ft, 95 lb blonde girl. OBVIOUSLY the problem is the ability to learn how to talk and help customers. i worked in retail for years at the domain, and i am completely dissatisfied with strut.
like i said before..go to higher end stores and take some notes, your sales would raise probably around 50% (if not more), if you know what you're doing.
Horrible craftsmanship, NO customer service. Don't waste your money..
This place has HORRIBLE, BAD, SHOTTY CRAFTSMANSHIP OF THE CLOTHING. I went into Strut looking to do some shopping. I received horrible ... well actually NO customer service from the wanna-be trendy employees. After looking around a bit and not receiving any assistance, I decided I would only purchase a coat, that I really liked. Only to wear it that evening and have FOUR of the buttons fall off within an hour or two of wearing it. I understand buttons fall off... but FOUR the first time I wear it. WTF ....
To which, my complaint was received with a "so what are you calling for?" by an employee who for whatever reason could not give me to a manager. Craftsmanship of the clothing is not up to par, especially for the price, by far. Customer service is even worse (at the Lamar location). I DO NO RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!!
Do not waste your time or your hard earned money.
Fabulous clothes but poor, poor customer service.
Well my first experience at strut was awful i've never been into any store where iam shopping
and was totally ignored. the sales girls were not helpful at all there was only two of us(customers)
and about 5 employees and there were all standing around gossiping and talking about what
there doing tonight i actually had to go to the counter to ask for help.poor customer skills!!!!!!!!!!!!
but the clothes are fabulous and reasonably priced its just to bad that i will never go back due
to the customer service.
Adorable. I don't know what is going on in Austin, but everyone should head to the location outside TSU in San Marcos. My sister, mother, and I stopped in briefly while getting a feel for the campus and I couldn't have been more impressed. I am probably a few years older than the normal clientele, and my sister has been blessed with some serious curves which also seem out of the norm for the store. Despite this we were not only treated politely but enjoyed an enthusiastic and welcoming conversation/introduction to the store from the girl working that day. She left us to ourselves for a few minutes to look and then asked if it was our first time and told us a little bit about the store. Regardless of the fact that we didn't spend a dime, she invited us to join the email list, told us about the new myspace page, and explained when the good sales happen. So not only were the clothes completely adorable and reasonably priced (don't you dare compare this to forever 21), but the service (delivered by a girl who was as adorable as the clothing) was excellent and friendly. I will definitely be making the drive again soon. Hope everyone gives this location a chance!
Metropolitan fashion makes its way to South Austin at this uptown clothing and accessories store in the SoLa District.. This trendy and affordable south side boutique offers women the opportunity to buy a whole outfit without breaking the bank. Stained concrete floors, natural lighting and hip art create an inviting backdrop for a fashion show. All apparel is bought at market in New York, LA or Dallas and brought together to create the mystique known as Strut. Shoes and purses are abundant and are in up-to-date colors, shapes and sizes. Patrons will find timeless items of interest from this locally owned and operated fashion peddler. Funky sunglasses, matching accessories and quality costume jewelry finish off a mod look.
Does NOT accept ANY returns, awful customer service, questionable quality. As several other customers have pointed out, customer service is terrible, but my bigger problem is they don't accept returns, which they don't post prominently. I'd been in before and left quickly because of the obnoxious clerks but this time, I was getting my car inspected across the street. I found several things I liked despite the total lack of attention and bad attitude when I finally actually approached the salesgirls. I discovered upon going up to the register that the store does not accept ANY returns. A little sign proclaimed the store policy of exchange ONLY with receipt within two weeks. I also noticed that the salesgirls were less spectacularly rude to other customers than they were to me. Other posters thought perhaps the disparity in customer service was about race or size. Perhaps. But I'm white and slender, but I was still totally ignored in favor of other customers. At 26, I was the oldest person in the store by about five years and I don't look like a sorority girl, so maybe that was the problem. Another problem is they've got a narrow range of sizes, both on the small end and the large. They carry jeans down to a 0, but don't have either XL or XS in their other clothes, and some dresses were too big for me in an S even though I'm a size 4. Some of the clothes are cute and pretty cheap, but between the idiotic return policy, the awful staff, and the limited sizes, I'm not going back.
Cute Clothes, at the expense of customer service. The clothes are so so cute, though they're often not very well made. As well the employees aren't attentive in the least, when you enter the store you get a very unenthusiastic "hello, how are you" from whoever is standing at the front desk. But nonetheless I don't shop here because of the service. I much prefer the South Congress location due to the fact that the employees are friendly, always dressed nicely, and the selection is much larger. The items can be a bit over priced but the clothing is always very cute and the sales are very good.
Amazing Clothes, Awful Customer Service.. I love strut and the clothes, however on the past couple of times I've gone the customer service is terrible!! I didn't even get a hello, until I had 2 items already in my hand, waiting on them to take the clothes away. All they did was sit and talk and this has been on a regular basis. I'm VERY dissapointed at the customer service because I do love the clothes, but I won't continue to go because of how I get treated.
Great selection on Jeans!!!!. Great selection on good quality jeans!!!! I would recommend that you are sure of the prices of you items before you pay, I purchesd a few pair of jeans and the clerk assumed they were all the same price when infact I was over charged around $20 on each pair. With some of the tags either missing or stuffed in the pockets I later found out that I had been over charged, but the staff was very apologetic and gave me no problem in getting the prices adjusted! I would recommend anyone to shop here and I will also continue to buy my jeans here!!!!!
Customer Service? There was no service there..... Okay, I went because a friend of mine said they had great shoes and purses. I am plus-size so therefore do not fit into any of their clothes, but wanted to see their shoes and purses. We were never acknowledged when at either location. They do not provide you with customer service. Perhaps it's because my friend and I are both plus-size...but should that really matter? I spent like 100.00 there one day buying shoes and purses, and that's the treatment we get? Not a friendly place at all.
