Fabulous treatment. I got a facial and massage at the Island Spa, and it was fabulous. The massage therapist was extremely professional and expert. I felt so relaxed and revived after an hour of her work, especially my shoulders and neck. The facial was equally wonderful, given by a different therapist. My skin looked really purified and glowing. It was a great experience, and I WILL go back!

WORST "manicure" ever.... Ok, I've had my nails done to the point I can probably BE a nail tech. Sometimes, though, I like to pamper myself and go someplace nice rather than a chop shop.

This was absolutely the wrong place to go for nails. Basically, the person that did mine was a hairdresser who may have had a few hours of nail teching in school, but obviously wasn't comfortable with it.

I sat down and said I'd like an American finish. The lady was very chipper, but I noticed (you notice these things) a hesitancy about filing and trimming cuticles. Halfway through the manicure, she tells me she really doesn't feel comfortable doing an American finish, but that if I don't want my nails painted, she'll give me a discount.

Well... mind you... if I'd known THAT, I'd never have sat in the chair! The "discount" was $17. I told the front desk clerk it wasn't worth that. Basically - all I'd gotten was an arm massage (not the best I've had, but not bad) and a few passes of the emory board. She dropped it to $10. So, I paid $10 for nothing, really.

Very unhappy with this joint and won't go back. Always check at these spas to see if your nail tech is really a nail tech or whether she/he is a hairdresser masking as a nail tech. I've had this happen to me twice (I learn slowly). Spas seem more notorious for this.

Wes is AWESOME!. Wes is the BEST colorist and stylist that I have been to...ever. I'm NEVER disappointed and I am stress free when putting my locks in his hands. He's creative and listens to what I want. I'm continuously complimented on my hair styles/color, which of course is a real ego boost. Wes is a real gem....He'll always have me as a fan! I will always be on Team Wes!

Rosacea. My wife has been trying different treatment for her rosacea over the years. She finally found a great treatment without antibiotics. Great results.

Elaina is Wonderful!. I went to Elaina after my hair was ruined by an inexperienced hairstylists. My hair was completely bleache out and almost beyond the point of being saved. Elaina stayed late to fix my hair and return it to health. She was more concerned about the health of my hair than anything else. She told me the process would take time but needed to be done to ensure my hair would just break. My hair now feels much better and looks GREAT!!! I would highly recommended Elaina for any hair service!!!

request Elaina..best hair designer EVER. I went to island after someone totally messed up my cut and color, i had ask for subtle blonde hilight's and i came out with redish purple one's. I went in to island and ended up getting Elaina and she not only fixed my horriable hilights,she fixed my cut and made me feel as if i could face the world again!

If you are new to the city or just need someone to listen to your hair needs..ask for ELAINA she will make you look and feel wonderful!

Wes is wonderful!. Thanks to Wes Turnbow my hair is now "updated and wonderful"! Thank you, Wes, for making me feel like a new woman! The cut and color are getting rave reviews by my friends and family. Island Salon and Spa is clean, friendly, relaxing, easy to find and very professional. Wes is very talented and loves what he does. Highly recommended.

Great hair cut and overall experience. I recently moved to Austin and began the search for a new hair stylist. I tried a small salon a couple of weeks ago and got a pretty bad hair cut. I found Island Spa and Salon on Citysearch and read great reviews so I called yesterday to see if they could get me in to fix my hair. I was lucky enough to get scheduled today with Elaina. Elaina quickly reassured me that the haircut was pretty bad, but the good news was that she could fix it! I have wavy to curly hair and usually try to straighten it, with not that great of results. Elaina cut it to where I could wear it naturally curly or staight. She explained how I could very easily style my hair for every day wear by scrunching the curls and letting it air dry. Just a little product to finish it off and I'm ready to go. I have to say, it looks awesome. A very hip style and the best part is that it's so easy for me to do myself. Elaina just found a new customer. I won't be going anywhere else. Thank goodness.

The Best in Austin!. This is the first time EVER that I have gone to a Salon , including some of the "high end" ones, and not gone home and re-done my hair. Janelle is amazing. My hair looks wonderful and she did the highlights exactly as they needed to be done! The Salon is relaxing, exceedingly clean, and so friendly. They now have a customer for life!

Wes is the BEST. Wes Turnbow is the best stylist I have ever had. I have fine hair and it just would fall flat but then thankfully I met Wes. He took the time to listen to my hairstyling challenges, suggested some different options to give my hair the oomph it desperately needed, and even coached me through styling on my own. Wes listens

to me which is so hard to find in a hairstylist. His color is also phenomenal - he is like an artist. Wes

has taken me from a sunkissed chesnut to a fiery auburn and now a bold brunette all within a year. How fun is that! And my hair is still so soft, healthy, and manageable. He also does my sister's curly hair and she loves his work too. On top of all this, he is super funny and nice and makes you feel good about yourself each time you see him. Book with Wes, he is the BEST!
