The prosciutto panini is out of this world, the fries are among the best in Austin, and the baked goods at the front counter are quite tasty too. .Enoteca Vespaio is a great spot for lunch or brunch and unlike most restaurants on Soco, it has it's own parking lot.

For a yummy Italian brunch, or just decadent pastries, you must try Enoteca Vespaio. The perfect South Austin patio keeps me coming back for a relaxing breakfast on a weekday.
The less pricy version of its big sister restaurant next door (Vespaio), Enoteca places a focus on farm-fresh vegetables and herbs, that atop warm, crunchy pizzas, arrabbiata sauce-laden pasta, and peak out of your leafy salad. Just like regular Vespaio, there's also an extensive wine program here, and that's always good for date night.
Noisy and food below avarage.
Went yesterday night and the place was so noisy that I had to leave taking the dessert with me home.
We ordered 2 plates of pasta: the raviolinis, which were very salty and also small for the price. The other dish was past with mushrooms and chestnate sauce, badly executed and almost sweet.
For dessert I ordered a tiramisu, probably the worst I've ever tried. No mascarpone at all, except for a spoon. It was all biscuits.
I do not recommend this place on weekend nights or for pasta.
The wine is excellent, thought (we tried 2 types)
Casual Elegance with a Splash of Romance. Great food. It is not only delicious, but also artistic. As they don't take reservations, there can be a long wait on the weekend for tables. So, the last couple of times we ate there we sat at the bar. The bartenders are great and know their distinct wine list. The cheese platter has an incredible selection of cheeses, with candied nuts and paper thin sliced fruits. It was so well presented, it was a shame to eat it. (But we did and loved it.) The Pasta is done perfectly and don't forget to leave room for dessert. For the quality of food and experience, it is a place that you can feel comfortable in jeans and for what you get, the prices are very reasonable.
Good Food, Poor Service.
My wife and I supped here a few months ago as a friend gave us a coupon. My wife is Italian, and to our dismay, whenever we eat out at an Italian restaurant, we usually find that her cooking is better.
Luckily, we actually found an Italian Restaurant that is at least worth the trip out. They really could improve on their service and personality, but at least the food was good. Prices were reasonable, but not cheap. A good place to go to for a special dinner.
just as good as vespaio. this place is just as good as vespaio. great place to lunch or brunch. and their coffee is good, too. i stop by when i'm in the hood for a latte.
YUCK!.
Today 5/30/08 I joined a few (3) friends for lunch to celebrate a birthday. After being served a greasy lunch, we requested 4 small plates to share a small cake between ourselves. To our dismay we were told we could not discreetly share the cake. HOWEVER, WE COULD SHARE THE CAKE IF WE AGREED TO PAYED NEARLY $2 PER PERSON. I'm appalled because we did not ask for a free lunch, a mariachi routine, or dancing on the table to announce my friends birthday.
I HAVE NO PLANS TO RETURN, BUT SHOULD YOU DECIDE TO EAT THERE I WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU TO LOOK AGAIN AT HOW GREASY THE FOOD REALLY IS BEFORE YOU EAT IT.
UNHAPPY NATIVE AUSTINITE!
Local fave Vespaio opens the doors on a simpler cafe cousin right next door..
In Short
With mellow ochre walls, small tables covered with Provencal linens and a deli case beckoning with exotic antipasti, cheeses and house-made charcuterie, the casual Enoteca Vespaio feels like a sophisticated European cafe. Duck ballantine, a course paté made in-house, pairs nicely with crusty bread and cornichons. Pappardelle are also made in-house and hand-cut, and a Bolognese sauce of ground veal, pork and beef in tomato sauce complements the rustic noodles perfectly.
Best italian food anywhere in Texas. Vespaio is as close to a perfect restaurant as it comes. The food is spectacular, the best you will have in Texas. It is very affordable. The atmosphere is great, as well as the service. The only drawback is that the dining room is a little small, and can be a little noisy.
Great bar, awesome patio, amazing service & incredible food. I love love love Enoteca. It should be noted that the phone number is 441-7672. The suppli is wonderful & the specials are always amazing. Service is top notch too! It's a great place to go for coffee in the morning, then a casual lunch & then back again for a romantic dinner. Brunch is awesome too! You can eat there every day & have something different.
No Matter What Meal, ABSOLUTELY GREAT. Enoteca is not only a great place to go to for lunch or dinner, but their Sunday brunch is outstanding week after week. The inside of the restaurant is very similar to a cafe you would find in Italy: small intimate tables filled with great quality food. I would highly recommend this restaurant and also the neighboring one, Vespaio (they share a kitchen). It is definitely worth eating at for any out of town visitor.
Love it!. The perfect place for whatever mood you are in... Sitting at the bar is wonderful. You can do takeout too if you don't fancy waiting. My favorite place in austin. :)
