Out of business?. Drove to the Round Rock Location - it no longer exist. Checked online for another location, 6500 north lamar - made the mistake of not calling first, drove there and the building is empty. I live in Leander. Learn from my mistake and ALWAYS call first. However it would be helpful if there were mention on their website that these locations no longer exist. Maybe the company doesn't exist - who knows?
Never Open. Is this place ever open? I have called, no answer, just a message saying they are open 10 to 6 Monday through Friday. I went to the store on two occasions, over two weeks, during the week, and the closed sign was on the door. With their limited hours, one would think they would be open when advertised. It seems as if they don't need to sell anything.
Stay Away!. I've called the North Lamar Giant location multiple times over the past week only to receive voice mail. I have not received responses to the messages I left. I stopped by their physical location yesterday(1/3/11) only to find the store closed during their normal business hours which was noted on their door. I assume the location has been closed for good.
Lost my business before I even reached the door. I went to buy a washer and dryer today and went to the Round Rock location after calling the store and hearing they open at 9 AM. I arrived at 9:30. The store door said they open at 10 AM. So I wander around another store for 30 minutes and go back. There were 5 people (including myself) waiting at the door, it is 10:04 AM. We wait and wiat and no sign of anyone showing up. I waited another 20 minutes (I have now wasted almost an hour) and finally left. I called back later to see if they ever did open and the man told me they had a computer glitz. I guess that prevents someone from coming to the door to tell the people waiting? I guess you can not look at appliances while the computers are down? I was totally unimpressed and am buying elsewhere.
Exceptional service with very competitve prices. I recently purchased 3 Jenn Air products. The oven, the downdraft cooktop, and a microwave-convection oven were all installed by Giant's appliance service team. With this being an older home and trying to work within the constraints of existing cabinetry, finding units that required little adjustment was a task. From the very beginning Min at the central Austin location was great to work with and so patient. At no time did I ever feel pressure to buy. It was certainly a "we are here to help you" attitude. They were flexible with delivery and installation. And for those doing re-modeling this flexibility can be important. The install team went out of their way to make sure everything was completed to our satisfaction. I would strongly recomment this appliance company. Each individual I dealt with deserved a 5 star rating.
Giant stepped up and made it right. As I mentioned in my last post, my girlfriend and I have purchased 10 appliances from Giant. We had some serious problems with the fridge we bought. It failed 3 times and we lost all of our food each time. After consulting with a manager we were told that we could contact LG or use the warranty company to repair it again, but those were out only options. We requested a new fridge and made a big stink about it, but they wouldn't budge. Eventually, however, the owner called and said that they would swap out the old fridge for a new one. We were able to get a fridge that was more expensive (by $700) at no charge to us whatsoever. When my girlfriend picked it out, the manager appologized for not exploring this option earlier and said that she learned that she should find out what remedies are available before she starts telling people "no". All in all, Giant has retained a loyal customer, and made the best out of a bad situation. We appreciate them stepping up to the plate and doing right by us. Thank you Giant.
I would like to say i am very pleased with the service and purchase of the refrigerator i bought over the memorial day sales. I walked in knew what i wanted they rang it up offered me the extended warranty (which i bought since it was still cheaper than buying a new one elsewhere on sale, also from consumer reports i knew it may be a good investment since maytags seem to have some issues with controller boards). I was able to purchase the water line at same time and opted for the delivery service. i was in and out of there in about 30 minutes with a practically new refrigerator (the scratch on front ). They promised delivery on tuesday and said i would be called an hour before delivery.
To my surprise the delivery person called about an hour before hand so i was able to be at my residence to accept item. The delivery team was incredible nice and did a fantastic job. They made sure everything was going to fit and removed the door handles and front door to get item in and were very careful about it. The one person hooked up the water line and tested it, then leveled the refrigerator and checked connections and made sure the settings were accurate. He then proceeded to instruct me on my new refrigerator and what to expect. It was well worth the money for delivery. They then put the handles back on door and rehung front door and cleaned up the packaging material before leaving.
So far the refrigerator has been working great and i am very pleased about purchasing this from Giant. At this time i would purchase or at least stop in there to see what they first.
I will post again if i have any other comments to make about using their warranty if i have the need to.
Great Selection/Prices/Customer Service. We have been shopping for a refrigerator only for a while. Giant had the selection and prices to meet our needs. Great customer service by the in store personnel and by the delivery crew. I highly recommend this business.
Don't expect a deal - watch out for non-working appliances!.
We just purchased a GE dryer that came with a 1-yr manufacturer's warranty, so we're still waiting to see how the appliances actually work. We went to Home Depot and Lowe's to see how much the appliance cost brand-new, and the scratch-and-dents are only about $25-$50 cheaper than the brand new in-store ones. Not that great of a deal - even with the 10% discount! [Apparently, this discount is not a seasonal thing but happens all the time, so I presume the discount is built-in to the quoted price.] Three months ago, I bought a scatch-and-dent model at Home Depot, and they also gave me 10% off after I asked, so the final amount is pretty much identical -- and the customer service I got at Home Depot was fantastic! They bubble-shrink wrapped my washer and everything so I wouldn't scratch it further on the way home! Anyway, so after we decided to buy from Giant (my husband did not want to drive around anymore), when they tested the machine we chose (less scratches) -- it DIDN'T EVEN WORK! Then, while they were trying to test another machine for us, the salesperson made a mistake on the sales transaction and came back and asked us to pay more. It was very suspicious - although in our case they took 15% off instead of 10% off. I recommend checking your transaction to make sure they're not charging you more! Legally, once a transaction is complete - their request to re-charge is a counter-offer that you don't have to accept! The one positive effort is that the salesperson through in a "complimentary" connection for thr trouble of our machine not working and waiting around for them to test the second one. (However, when we got home, the connection did not even fit, so we had to go to the store to get a new one anyway!)
All in all, I will be purchasing brand-new next time!! Customer service was not that great from upper-management (some Asian girl - she did not have a name tag). Our salesperson Besor was pretty nice and accommodating.
Scratch and Dent Appliance Store Reviews. For the past week, I visited 3 scratch & dent appliance stores in my search for a refrigerator, front load washer and dryer for my new home. These were my criteria: Price, Selection, Customer Service. All of which carried an equal amount of importance. ==== Aus-Tex Appliance: Limited selection; They carry LG and GE mostly, and a lot of used stuff, which I was not in the market for. Good Prices, poor atmosphere, not professional, high-pressure. Poor customer service. I didn't go to the North location after my experience at the South Austin store. 5 of 10. ==== Giant Discount Appliances: Large selection and carried all the brands. Average to good prices, very friendly and professional, low-pressure. Great customer service. Also visited Austin warehouse. 9 of 10 ==== Appliance Associates: Nice people, nice prices, very poor selection. They just don't carry much inventory. 7 of 10 ==== I chose to purchase my appliances at Giant Discount Appliances from the Round Rock location. Although I felt Aus-Tex Appliance had slightly better prices on the washer and dryer, but not the refrigerator, Giant worked with me since I purchased a refrigerator, washer and dryer. Their customer service was some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. The lady at the Austin store told me that no one at Giant Appliances works on commission so they have a no-pressure sales approach, which was very reassuring. I thought Giant Appliances was a large franchise, only to learn that they are a family operated business who started here in Austin. They were very, very informative and made me really feel like they were looking out for my interest, not what you expect from sales people. The Round Rock salesman, Miles, was very good to us. He helped us select what we were looking for and didn't try to upsell us on anything. The store was very clean and impressive. They also sell TVs, but their prices were very mediochre. I am going to recommend all my friends and family to Giant.
