Editorial Review for Home Slice Pizza – by Joshua Hinsdale
The Scene
Home Slice serves up New York-style thin crust pizza in a fun, urban atmosphere. Local hipsters and office workers crowd the colorful booths and read the creative signs and graphics on the walls. Those who want to view the pizza-making first-hand sit at the crimson-hued counter. Attractive, young, hip servers bustle as if they are hosting a dinner party at their home and want all their friends to be happy.
The Food
The tasty hand-thrown pies come in several varieties, from the traditional margherita to the outrageous white clam pie. Order by-the-slice, especially if you're on-the-go, or for the full experience, order a full pie and enjoy it on-site. Customize your own pizza from a long list of traditional (artichoke hearts, mushrooms, pepperoni) and more edgy (fried clams, fried eggplant, Kalamata olives) toppings. Family style salads come in a large bowl and are plenty for four. Made-to-order subs, salads and calzones also grace the menu.
Hits: Dark enough for a date, yet casual enough for families.
Misses: For some reason, the takeout pizza slices from the front service window don't stack up to the quality of the dine-in pies.

It's pretty obvious, this place is the best pie in town. Why do i say that you might ask? Because every seasoned food critic knows the foundation to a phenomenal pizza is the crust. This is a neapolitan/new york style crust that will not be mistaken for any other. Thin, crispy, and still chewy...it's that simple people. I've tried the Southside Flying Pies (mediocre), Milto's, Frank & Angies, etc. and this is definitely my favorite. Yaghi's New York pizza is pretty good, but no Home Slice. Now i know this is a blog for the almighty Home Slice and no offense to my buddies that work there, but I like to share the love. So, for all you neapolitan/thin style crust lovers, the only ones that come close to this place in my opinion are 2 places: East Side Pies and Saccone's. I dont care what anyone says... these 3 places are where it's at, period. Much love Home Slice!!! -Mems
