What Our Expert Scouts Say

Austin's beloved New York style-pizza joint, reining proudly from its small stands on SoCo. Their chewy crust is topped with some of the most insane ingredients, like eggplant, chopped clams, and possibly narcotics. Walk right up to the window and order a big ol' slice from their daily selection.

Fave pizza spot in town. Always a wait. Always worth it. The eggplant sub is my muse.

Excellent NY style pizza by the slice. You'll wait at the sitdown restaurant, so go to More Home Slice next door for a much quicker meal.

Delicious of course, but also very hip. From the outside it just looks like a normal pizza joint with a cool name, but once you walk in side it's suprisingly hip, with dim lighting, cool wall fixtures and modern seating areas. We expected to pop in and get a greasy slice on a paper plate Wednesday night. We ended up waiting 20 minutes because this place was hoppin! The host was kind enough to get us a glass of wine while we waited. The pizza was delicious, no doubt about it. I'm so pleased to have Home Slice down the street.

Feels like "home"!. I'm loving this establishment. I'd have to agree with lang77 that some (or just one) of the servers have attitude but overall I've had pleasant accounts with most of the staff. If you visit often enough as my fam and I do then they start to know you by name and nix the attitude if they know you have a good attitude yourself. The pizza is great and greek salad is on par! This place is local for me so returning is a definite 'yes'!

My Favorite Pizza in Town. The pizza is fantastic. Make sure you get a freshly made pie to really do Home Slice justice. While the individual slices are good, the fresh baked pie is waaay better. If you like big slices of pizza baked with a nice thin NY-Style crust, Home Slice is your place. I go here often and the food is always tasty and the wait staff is good. Bartender dude with the crazy hair is super nice. If you don't like Home Slice you are probably a communist.

Good Pizza served with a horrible attitude....ENJOY!. Overall, I think the Pizza is decent. My biggest complaint is the horrible and rude service. Whether you try to eat inside or outside expect poor service, extremely long waits, and a smug hipster attitude telling you to go elsewhere if you don't like it. If you are hoping to walk by and grab a slice from the window expect the same treatment. I have waited 25 plus minutes for a slice and witnessed a customer being yelled by the staff for inquiring about his order after 30 minutes. I no longer go to Home Slice and would recommend others do the same.

Exceptional.. Home Slice is a contemporary blast from the past. The service is excellent, the quality of the ingredients is unsurpassed, the portions are good, and the price is right. This is the kind of restaurant you will remember fondly. No styrofoam cups, no paper plates, no plastic silverware, and no skimping to save a few bucks. The pizza is simply the best you will find in Austin. The best time to go is Sunday, mid-afternoon, when the crowd has dissipated. Two thumbs up! Other restaurant owners should take note.

Awesome pizza, but you'll wait for it!. Very flavorful pizza without a lot of the grease you find at most of the joints in this town. But it does come at a wait... Very much Worth the wait!

I'm from New York City, so trust me.... I'm from New York City and this comes really, really close. The crust is perfectly baked: Crispy underneath and chewy just below the sauce. Oh, yeah, the sauce. It's got just the right combination of herbs and spices (especially the oregano). The cheese has the perfect consistency. I won't get it with toppings; It's like putting ketchup on a fillet mignon. They bake the pizza in a brick-lined deck oven, just in The City. All that's missing are the juice machines and the thick accents. (accent? what accent? fuggedaboudit!)

Oh, and watch the guys tossing the dough... brings back memories...

Truly Excellent Pizza...and Salad!. This pizza is just amazing. It really is incredibly good, the toppings, the crust, all of it. There is nothing fancy or particularly exciting about it, just excellent NY style pizza. And their house salad is one of the best salads in town. Sometimes I go just for that! The ingredients are so fresh and the dressing is perfectly light. The only bad thing to be said about Homeslice is that it is really loud, you aren't going to have a nice, quiet evening. And they actually charge for a side of marinara, which I think is just cheap. Also, their beer on tap selection is weak. Overall, it's the best pizza place in town. Easy.

GREAT EXPERIENCE!! Great food & fast service!!. We went here for a small family celebration & it was awesome!!! We went on a Sunday shortly after 1PM and it was busy but we only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. We were seated promptly and the waitress quickly took our drink/pizza order. The food came out within reasonable time, and it tasted great!!! Better than any Pizza I've ever eaten anywhere else!! Would highly recommend to anyone, but have also been warned about the long wait, so plan ahead & call it in, or go during the week!!!

Pizza is so-so. Everytime I go into Home Slice the pizza always tastes different. Sometimes it's really, really good and other times it's really, really bad! A con is that they are closed on Tuesdays! So be prepared for either really good pizza or really bad pizza.
