Always a treat to eat and catch a flick at Alamo. The previews and post preview clips are the best and the food phenomenal. Always take a look at the seasonal menu and the milkshakes!
Best place to see a film in Austin. Order the 512 Pecan Porter Shake. Full menu and you can order drinks too!
I love this place. It is very laid back, great food, adult beverages and the latest movies. But don't think it is so laid back that others can get out of order. They are very strict about that and will ask the person to leave if they are disturbing others. The waiters are very friendly and helpful but quite during the films. If the movie is popular, get there early as it fills up fast.
Austin's best movie theater. Unique programming, cool vibe, great beer. Not everyone wants to eat in the dark, but don't skip dessert!
It's The Drafthouse!. Screenings at the Drafthouse are ingeniously fun and feature theme nights, interactivity and filmmaker and star appearances. Moviegoers enjoy atypical theater fare--delicious pizzas with campy movie-related names like "Poultrygeist" chicken with pesto pizza, buffalo wings, burgers, sandwiches, salads, sundaes, cheesecakes and more. Wash it down with beer, sangria, mimosas and wines. The clincher? There's no waiting in food lines or moving from your seat. A mostly stealth waitstaff handles your every snacking need.
Ehh. It wasn't the best place, but it makes it easier for dinner and a movie in one night! The parking sucked, the food is good, but it take forever and my date was freezing.
bring a sweater. Ladies bring a sweater, it's always cold here. And come early. . . parking isn't easy but you can park behind it usually. Otherwise FABULOUS theater.
Not your average movie theater.
Alamo is the perfect place to hang out on a Friday night. They offer a variety of movie selections that range from the classics, indie films and current box office hits. They also have themed nights, sing-a-longs and the always hilarious "master-pancake" theater where commentators provide a comedy show during the movie.
The goat cheese salad, spicy bleu burger and the peanut-buttter chocolate shake are great choices but you can't go wrong on this menu! They variety of beer is also a major plus.
Citysearch Editorial Review. Owners Karrie and Tim League should be--and very much are--credited with revitalizing the movie-watching experience in Austin. Their South Lamar branch of the chain is a haven for those who can appreciate quality independent productions and cult classics in addition to first-runs. Interactivity (The Mamma Mia! sing-a-long event brought something special out of me), theme nights, filmmaker and star appearances are all to be expected and enjoyed. Once in your cushiony comfy seat, order off the atypical cinema menu, populated with beers, wines, and campy movie-related dishes like "Poultrygeist" Chicken Pesto and “Up in Smoke'd” Bacon Pizza. Leaving no one behind, the Drafthouse also caters to those who prefer Gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and organic options.
My favorite place to watch a movie.
After theaters have raised their prices to nearly 10 dollars and made you pay that again if you wanted something to eat made Alamo a breath of fresh air.
The food is good and the staff is entertaining. The events they host are my favorite. Weekly they have free showings of my favorite TV shows like 'Lost' or 'Battlestar Galactica', or the UT game. Their "Master Pancake" and "sing-along" movies make going a unique experience you wont get anywhere else. The compilation of movie/TV clips they play while you wait for the movie to start makes me want to get there early.
Its hard to get ahold of the waiter during the movie which makes it difficult to ask for refills or any questions you might have.
i practically live here!. i love this place! the crowd is there for the movie or show and they make sure of it. if you talk or text, they will kick your ass out and that is lovely. service and food is always good. they should have one in every town in the nation. you can tell they care about the experience and do everything they can to enhance it. REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!!
