I Love This Place. This place serves such good food. I usually order either the Spaghetti Bolognese or the Stuffed Bell Pepper. The owners also have La Traviata downtown and the Spaghetti Bolognese is their most popular dish but I feel the one at Mood & Food trumps the La Traviata one. I had some of the lamb and it was great too. The polenta fries are great and the sauce that it comes with it is so good.
Great cafe. I went with a friend of mine a few weeks back and we both loved the restaurant. The menu was really diverse and we both had a hard time deciding on what to order. In the end, it was the filet that drew us in and we both thought it was just fantastic. The spinach and mashed potatos were excellent. The filets were really flavorful, tender and juicy (better than I've had in some steakhouses in the area) We also split the tiramisu, which was outstanding. The restaurant has a great vibe to it. It's romantic enough for couples, but quirky enough for a girls' night out. The waiter was outstanding and really knew the wine list, which is always a sign of good staffing. I recommend this restaurant. If you haven't been -- go. If you've been before -- go back. The menu changes, so there's always something new to try.
Great dining experience. The atmosphere is perfect and the food is off the chart. The Rich and delicous appetizers are followed by their melt in your mouth main course beef and pasta dishes. Highly recommended.
Loved it. We saw the conflicting reviews, but wanted to try it for ourselves . We're glad we did! Most of the complaints seem to be from a few months back --maybe it's improved. My wifa and I both enjoyed the food, and the service was fine. We will be back.
ALWAYS A GREAT MEAL!!!!!!! If you are a "chain restaraunt" lover, this isnt for you then.. Im sorry but we disagree with the poor comments. My husband and I love trying new places to eat, and since we have moved here from Tulsa, Ok. we have tried a few!! We have eaten at Mood and Food at least 10 times, and have always been pleased!! The spaghetti bolognese is unbelievable, and always consistant. The spicy penne pasta is awesome, but spicy,,good! The hummus with the shish-ka-bobs is a great meal, the mozzerella and peppers,,,yum!!! It is by far my favorite ceasar salad too!!!! All of these negative comments must be from "chain"restaraunt eaters!!!!!!!!!! We have always had great service, great wine, and they have good desserts!!!! WE HOPE THEY STAY AROUND!!
Maybe they got the idea?. After reading the other reviews, my bf and I had a few reservations about Mood & Food. I'm so glad we tried it. Our waiter was excellent; attentive, knowledgeable about the dishes and pleasant. The food was awesome. Nice portion sizes. Beautiful presentationss. Polenta fries in gorgonzola sauce were heavenly. Mozzarella salad was a pleasant new take with roasted red peppers instead of tomatoes. The calamari was extremely tender. My bf reports the cured meat platter and vodka cured salmon were wonderful. The duck confit was heavenly. And lastly the tiramisu, a dessert I rarely order (usually a soggy mess), was perfectly done with a nice twist of walnuts and hazelnuts. Not a romantic spot, but rather an upscale neighborhood eatery. As for the other reviewers comments about strobing lights, there were some lights that changed colors every 10 seconds ...like a mood ring. A little distracting but not intolerable.
Not in the Mood. Four Points has Subway, Austin Pizza, The Boathouse, and a BBQ place. All of which I would recommend over Mood and Food. My wife and I ate there and were really hopeful to get some good food and wine. The menu was perplexing as to what they are going for. The salad was wilted, the food was tough and cold. The service was horrible. I ordered the pasta and it was overcooked, I ordered the wine and it was undrinkable. The menu needs revamping. At this point, we're all just hoping for a Chili's and we'll drive to Sienna, Bellagio, or the Arboretum for a decent meal.
Food is Passable -- Service is not. We live in River Place, so we really wanted to like Mood & Food. We've been a couple of times. The food has been okay - as long as you stick to the pastas. The service, however, is horrible. Our waitress had absolutely no concern with how long we waited for our wine, not to mention our dinners. I agree with the previous post regarding the kaleidescope of colors you'll see on your date's face if you sit against the colorful wall.
Great PLace, Worth the trip. We live out in the Four Points area, so it's nice to have another good resttaurant in the area. We've been there for dinner several times, and also to the bar for drinks. The food is very good, and reasonably piced for the quality. Service is fine, and the bartender is great. The owners are on-site, and very friendly.
Bad food - Really bad wine. Wines by the glass are dreadful - bottles have apparently been opened for days. Tried 2 glasses of different wines and both were corked. Food was just as bad. Ceaser salad is Romaine lettuce buried under unusual amount of grated cheese. Pate plate as appetizer was thin slices prociutto and olives. Meat arrived overcooked. Out of six people, wine and food was bad for all six. Also tried it for brunch and was just as disappointed. I was shocked to read this was the team that started La Traviata. I'd suggest firing the chef, and getting some decent Italian wines. And if you sit at the tables against the wall, you get strobe lights overhead that keep changing colors which would only be enjoyable if a) you suddenly turned into a silver Christmas Tree or b) you enjoy seeing your dining partner turn red, blue, green, and yellow.
