Fun for a change; "good' at best.. We went for lunch today. You order at the counter and that was fine. We were worried because the pies look kind of skimpy on the website. Turns out they are about the size and height of a Big Mac. We each got a different one; I got the Curry chicken, my friends got the Thai chicken and the Southwest chicken. My sister got the Steak and Mushroom, jokes about the all the guys eating chix but the girl gets the beef, hahaha. We all got a salad and drink and each got set back about $9.

The salads were good and fresh and larger then I expected. We all enjoyed our pies and only the Thai pie was a little drippy. The best thing about them was the dough. The bread is light and fluffy but still firm enough to hold it since that is about the best way to eat these things. One bad thing about the dough is that it seemed really oily.

Comparing notes we all agreed that the pies were "good" at best. When you get right down to it, they are kind of boring. You would think the Thai and the Curry would be spicy but they weren't, they were very bland. The most flavorful was the Steak and Mushroom and that isn't saying much. Reminds me of food I sometimes get when I go to conventions and the caterers have to please everyone instead of serving the best food.

Good Food...Poor Service. I went to Boomerang's today and was impressed by the food. Only problem that I had was that the waitress was totally useless. She didn't provide any recommendations or explaination for the different pies. Furthermore, she didn't help in getting boxes to go or utensils to go! All in all good food...poor service.

For all the vegetarians out there, they have some really good veggie pies. My favorite is the Roasted Vegetable Pie.

No more "same old....". Reasonably priced and delicious, the offerings of Boomerang's are a welcome upgrade from other quick lunch fare.

A Pharmaceutical Reps Best bet!. I have been using Boomerang's for lunch (and more recently, even breakfast) appointments with my doctor's offices. They love it! The nurses rave over the Chicken and Mushroom and vegetarians LOVE the Mediterranean Veggie pies. They make for such a convenient and unique boxed lunch...and once they've had a taste, the offices ask for Boomerang's again and again!

The staff at Boomerangs are responsible and friendly... they always get my orders right AND on time (a big plus in my line of work!).

BTW, the breakfast pies are delicious...like little savory quiches. They only offer breakfast pies for catering right now... but soon they may be offered on the permanent menu!

If you are a rep and are tired of pizza and BBQ lunches, call Jack at Boomerang's. Your offices will love you for it!

Best thing North of the Equator!. Jack at Bommerang's has the best food in Austin that you've never tasted. But once you do you'll wish you'd been born down under. Jack himself is a joy... AND he can cook. If you're craving pizza, a calzone, fried chicken, or something yummy, Jack is your man and a pie is what you are really after. Think chicken p0t pie meats your favorite burger, southwest, pizza or even Thai filling. And he uses some of the freshest tasting ingredients around. They are wonderful, filling and h1t that spot - the one that no sandwich or fast food can ever quite reach. And he serves good beer! AND there is a patio outside with covered seating. It's right down the road Amy's Ice Cream on Guadalupe - dessert anyone? Talk about a great Austin/ Aussie evening around $10. Perfect!
