subtle blonde highlites

First of all, this place is very relaxing. I always feel welcome and at home at this salon, which says a lot. Lainie truly is an artist and cares about her work-more so than making a quick buck off of you unlike some of the other pretentious salons in this town. She will do exactly what you want...if you tell her. I brought in a picture of some highlights and when I was finished, my hair looked just like what I wanted. Also, she does highlights in such a way that they look very natural when they grow out so if necessary, you go a bit longer between visits. I also like that she truly tries to find a color that is complimentary and looks natural on me. Not only is she a warm hearted person, but she is truly knows what works for your hair and will give out an honest opinion.
- Pros: relaxing ambiance
- Cons: ???
She works magic!
by misskitty88 at Citysearch
I have had long hair my whole life. During a consultation Lainie recommended that I go shorter, stating it would work well with my face. It took me coming to see her several times and building up trust to take a chance and try it. I am so happy that I did! I look younger! She also added some highlights to enhance the cut. I feel like a million bucks! Thank you Lainie for being patient with me and persistent, You have made me feel so amazing! Lainie and Kris are so personable and friendly. They put you at ease and give you a great experience. It is like going to visit with friends who just so happen to do your hair while you are there.
- Pros: very friendly, realistic advice
- Cons: I can't hang out there everyday
Best hair I've had in Austin
by catrescue99 at Citysearch
I think this might have been the first time ever that a hairdresser actually listened to what I wanted and delivered it! The salon is casual and comforting- no one staring at you to make sure you are being cool. Lainie is a star at color- she helped me choose colors that would grow out nicely, and enhance my eyes! I have gotten so many compliments from friends and co workers that I know I have earned my free haircut! (she has a great referral program going too!) I am not sure what that last reviewer was going on about- if it wasn't for those fabulous texture scissors my hair would not possibly do what I want it to do! Lainie also explained everything she was doing to me throughout the service- and I felt absolutely confident with her skills. I would say that she does real hair- hair that doesn't have to be "fixed". Low Maintenance Hair. Her salon is very clean and AMAZING! I love the vintage decor, and her dog Stella is the cutest thing I have ever seen! Add me to the long list of fans!
- Pros: comforting casual environment, hairdresser listens
- Cons: had to wait two weeks for my appointment- but was worth it!
Not impressed
by GingerZ at Citysearch
I went for the first time based on all of the favorable reviews online. I have had much better haircuts -- my friends even agreed. (If you do go, keep her away from those thinning shears -- she likes to use those things which most of the stylists I've used before said they won't go near since your hair grows in badly after that.)
- Pros: the atmosphere is fun and lanie seemed cool
- Cons: i didn't get a good haircut
Brought My Hair Back from the Dead

After a pretty terrible experience at a local "day spa" salon, I was in dire need of a new haircut to repair the damage done. I read Lainie's reviews on CitySearch and was very impressed that some of her clients make the trip from Houston to see her. She does book up pretty far in advance (at least 2 weeks), but it was well worth the wait. The salon is located in a little house, and immediately after coming inside, I fell in love with the place. Quirky furniture and sparkly walls add to the fun, but professional atmosphere. Stella, the French bulldog, greeted me with happy grunts and proceeded to snooze next to me on the couch. Lainie listened to my tales of hair woe, and offered solutions before picking up her scissors. She spoke to me realistically about what she could fix and what would just take time to grow. I appreciated her advice and candor, and I found myself very at ease (a difficult feat when in the hands of a new stylist). Her haircuts are very reasonably priced (about $40), and the individualized service was top-knotch. I would definitely recommend Lainie to anyone looking for a great haircut and a salon without pretentious, under-qualified stylists! Plus, Stella is a peach.
- Pros: Professional and Skilled, Fun and Relaxing
- Cons: Books up! Call 2 weeks in advance!
