Unprofessional and Rude. I really liked this place because I always thought they did good work on my car for 4 years, but that was until the last two visits and an unprofessional rude response to my complaint and concern. It's really hard trying to find a good automotive shop in Austin (well anywhere), so I guess the search begins again.

I got my car horn fixed here. Not a problem, until my cruise control started flashing and didn't work. It worked perfectly fine before I took it in. I just thought it was a coincidence since the cruise control and horn don't really have anything to do with each other, so I didn’t say anything about it. Also, cruise control is a luxury not a necessity.

Then, about 3 months later my car dies on me and I have to get it towed to the auto shop that night. The next morning, they call me to tell me that my battery terminal was loose which caused it. At the same time I find out many other problems with my car. My gasket was leaking oil, so I would have to replace that. Also, my radiator and all its hoses would have to be replaced. I just gave him the go ahead to replace just the gasket. Then, about a week later (the temperature finally got warm enough to use the a/c) I turn on my a/c and it doesn’t work. It was working very well before (I was using my a/c right before my car stalled), and there were absolutely no signs of failure. It blinks and doesn’t work, so I KNOW there’s something wrong electrically with it. Then, I decide to call them about it. I assumed maybe they had did something wrong with wiring. I KNOW that the horn, cruise control, and the a/c wiring are all different and not connected to each other, but maybe someone made a mistake. No problem, right? If it was a coincidence, I would just be wrong and my car would get fixed either way. Anyways, I tell him that my a/c isn’t working and he proceeds to tell me about what about what I already KNOW. He offered to see it for free. He keeps telling me that all these things are coincidence. I do understand that they might be, but everyone wants to make sure because no one wants to get ripped off. Then he tells me in a very rude tone, “Are you saying that I am sabotaging your car?” I told him no that I am not and that maybe someone has made a mistake. He tells me again that I think that he is sabotaging my car and rudely laughs at me for a couple seconds. First off, I never said that, he stated that. I only merely suggested that maybe someone had made a mistake, not that they were bad people. Some suggestions that they should take are don’t be rude to unsatisfied clients and keep your cool. I did not have any kind of attitude, nor was I rude, just calm. I was willing to even come back. Now, I will take my business elsewhere.

Austin's Best and most reliable and honest automotive shop!!. Lugnuts is by far the best automotive shop in Austin. Ive taken multiple cars there for various repairs and I have always been more than satisfied. There customer service is beyond outstanding and they are the friendliest shop I have ever deal with. They are very honest and will never mislead you on any repairs that need to be done. The guy at the front counter was amazingly friendly....and really took the time to explain what needed to be done...and even went the extra mile to explain everything. Ive had everything from brake jobs to front end work done....and I would recommend them over anyone in Austin!

Thanks Guys. I have taken my car to a local automotive shop for the past couple of years and I have started to wonder what else was out there . I found out about Lugnuts from a lady I worked with so I had to check them out . I had a few things that I was told needed to be done by my old mechanic shop. So I did some checking around and found that Lugnuts quote did come in cheaper then others . I took my car down there on a Monday morning and talked to the guy there about the stuff my old shop was recommending and they had a look at it and told me about only half the stuff needed to be done . The people there where great and they have a nice waiting room that is very quite , almost to quite I took a small nap. I have now have had my car there about 5 times just for normal oil changes and maintenance my husband is also taking his Truck there for oil change and Alignment and he is Happy with the people there as well so we both give you 2 big thumbs up . . . Thanks guys keep up the good Work .

Corrupt Mechanics. So my mother and myself have both taken our cars to Lugnuts for the past year and I am certain they screwed my car up more than they did any good to it. I am a young girl and am certain that they took advantage of me. Everytime my mother and I took our car to the shop, it was always around $500 worth of work that needed to be done. As well, probably around four months ago I took my car there to get my valves replaced. They told me that I needed to get all of my valves replaced (which I believe was a lie, I don't think all of them needed to be replaced, just one) and recently, just a few months after I had paid very GOOD money to get this problem taken care of, I had the same valve leakage problem. Hmmm... that's weird. So obviously I paid for them to replace all of my valves and they didn't do anything. This time, scared to allow them to have my car in their hands to do what they want with it, I allowed another local automotive shop to do the job and they did it for a fifth of the price. So not only did Lugnuts overcharge me for auto work, they didn't even do it. This is just one example of the terrible work they did on my car. If you take your car there, they may temporarily fix the problem but count on a few months later you needing more car repairs. I have lived, learned, and paid for the experience and the least I can do is to try and relay this information to others so that they don't have to go through the same terrible frustration I experienced.

thank you for taking the time in writing this review. we cannot get better without knowing what went wrong. i do not recall doing any valve jobs in the last year as we do not provide this service anymore. I dont know what vehicle you are talking about or your name so please call me, i would like to discuss what happened and resolve this issue where both parties will be happy. i have a very small source of advertising as i am a local shop and i rely on reviews as my advertising. i treat people as i would like to be treated and never want you to leave feeling the way you did.

Great shop. I had an estimate at another shop and they suggested all kinds of work, from power steering job to belts and everything in-between. When I came to Lugnuts, they were honest and direct, making it easy to decide what I needed done. I saved a lot of money and the price quoted was the out the door price. Great to do business with!

Great Automotive Shop. I came to Lugnuts by chance when my car was overheating just because it was close to where I was at school. The service was great, they helped me get a rental car at shop rate and the prices were really low. Another plus is that it is a locally owned Austin business. Was a great experience and am going to continue have my car serviced there.

The Best Around. A friend at work recommend Lugnuts to me after a good experience he had with them. I know next-to-nothing about cars, and so am always skeptical at first and assume mechanics will try to give me the shaft. To overcome this, I never get any work done without calling somewhere else for a second opinion. Over the past year that I have lived here, I have taken a variety of issues to Firestone and other nearby shops, but Lugnuts has always been the one I end up favoring. They typically come back with the lowest quote, I've never had any follow-up issues with their work (aside from a slow leak in a tire, which the fixed again for free), and over time, I now feel comfortable that they have never suggested any unnecessary repairs. In fact, after my car wouldn't start recently, I just took it to the nearest Firestone where they suggested several repairs at about $900 (part+labor). Not wanting to drop that kind of cash, I took my car to Lugnuts and showed them the list of the suggested repairs. They came back and told me they couldn't see that any of them were "necessary." Instead they suggested a completely different $40 repair that took 10 minutes. I said yes, and I have had no problems starting my car since. I'm sold on this place! From now on, I'll go slightly out of my way and go to Lugnuts, every time.

The Best. I have been going to Lugnuts for five years now, and I no longer go anywhere else. This is a locally-owned business and it shows. The staff is professional and courteous, and their rates are the most reasonable I have seen. If I had to refer my wife or sister, this is where I would send them.

Reviews prove accurate. Was told by Leonard's Muffler that I needed front brakes at $250. Skeptical, I went to Lugnuts for a second opinion. They told me brakes have 30 percent left--that is, they are fine. Were I to do them anyway, $160. Lugnuts earned a customer, and I'm afraid I won't be going to Leonard's anymore.

Fast affordable oil change.... Being new to Austin, I looked here on Citysearch and found these guys. They were able to take me in the moment I walked in and in around a half hour I was back in my car and on the road again. The oil change was only $28 which was reasonable. The people were mildly friendly. However, I also asked for an estimate to fix the lights in the dashboard of my Honda Element. I was told a price for labor and told that as far as parts go they would have to tell me after looking. Well just to look would cost $85. He didn't bother to tell me how much the lights tend to run either. Really he didn't even seem too concerned about helping me with that issue at all. The guy also told me that there were some lights in my dashboard that just go out and there's nothing you can do to replace them. Wha? Seriously? I will be getting other opinions about that one and probably doing some of my own research as well. Bottom line: oil change was fine. As far as anything else, I would probably look elsewhere.

im sorry if there was some miss communication about your lights. the labor would be 85 dollars to pull the instrument panel to see why the lights are not working. there would be no additional labor charge to install new bulbs if that is all it needs. just the price of the bulbs. it is hard to give a firm estimate without knowing what is the cause of the problem. hope will give us another chance.
