Editorial Review for Rainforest Cafe – by Chris Barsanti

In Short
While waiting for a table, hungry diners prowl the retail village, where cash-register ka-chings compete with chirping birds, roaring lions and chest-thumping gorillas. When the lights start to flicker, never fear--thunderstorms are part of the show. The menu is American comfort food--pastas, burgers, pizzas and salads--served with a tropical flair. There are plenty options that the kids will recognize, but enough novelty to keep the parents happy.

This restraunt has a real great family atmosphere, me and my husband took our 7 year old daughter and 2 month old there and it was real nice. The decorations and all could probably use some updating but it was still a great experience and the more important part, my duaghter was in awe and loved the restraunt! The food is a bit pricey and kinda tastes the same as a chillis or applesbees. I probably will not go back there cause of the cost to dine there but would not have changed our pick, its a great restraunt and the customer service, the waiters, they were all great. Oh and you can just go in and walk around all 3 floors of the restraunt too just to look around. Trust me if you are looking for a place to wow your kiddos this is it! Oh and we went on a sunday around 3/4 pm only a 15 minute wait

Pros: great atmosphere and great for kiddos

Cons: Pricey!

As a qualified Culinary Critic, I feel compelled to give this place my vote. It was an overall experience and not just another dining experience. Rainforest Cafe didn't forget their guests when it came to the design of this place along with the fact that their patrons were immediately greeted with smiles and warm service. I was extremely impressed when the Manager made stops at all of the tables and had time to interact with their guests. I asked if it was like this all of the time and the people seated next to me chimed in and said they dine here once a week. I didn't like the stairs but it was pointed out there is an elevator for people to use. That goes along with the fact that they didn't miss a detail. The entrees and appetizers were generous and prepared just like the pictures. My server took me on a "tour" of the menu. If you are dining in San Antonio, this is a great stop for locals and tourists. Signed: The Texas Food Critic.

Pros: excellent food and service

Cons: this place is three stories tall
