I think it is great that they have different classes that you don't always find at a dance studio, such as cheerleading and musical theatre. I have nothing but positive things to say about this studio.
Look elsewhere. If you are looking for serious dance instruction do not look here. Discipline is non existent. Instructors change frequently. Building is way to cramped. Also don't expect people that work there to follow their own rules, and always expect instructors children to come out on top, regardless of skill.
Love it!. Both of my daughters attend Center Stage. One takes dance, and one is on the competitive cheer team. One thing that sets Center Stage apart from other studios that we have tried is the expertise of the instructors. Most of the instructors have college degrees, many in education and dance, and have extensive experience in working with children. My daughters have not only flourished in technique and grace, but also in confidence and perseverance. The teachers care tremendously about each student and instill lifelong values within them. We have been exceptionally happy at Center Stage and plan on staying there for a long time!!
Awesome studio!!!!. My 3 year old daughter has been going to center stage now for about a year. We couldnt be happier with our experience. We had to switch days in the middle of the year and we encountered no problems whatsoever. The instructors are fabulous and so nice and very gentle and sweet to the little ones. One of the perks of this studio is that if you miss a week or if there is a holiday you can make up your class anytime. I have never run into that at any other activity my daughter attends. Michelle the owner was her instructor at one point and she is just the cats pajamas. We met while our children were in the Nicu and she has been so kind and generous to us even though she has gone through so much herself this last year. I would highly highly highly recommend this dance studio to anyone, it truly is outstanding!!!!!!!
great experience for the whole family. My daughter has been dancing at Center Stage for 6 years. She is a shy girl and tends to be hard on herself. The teachers and staff at Center Stage have been so positive and kind that her love for dance has grown. She was on the company team this year, at first she was nervous and then it became her favorite class. Ms. Brdget has given a lot of support and guidance, she has a knack of critiquing without the child feeling bad. I know not all studios is a great fit for everyone, but this has been an awesome fit for us. My daughter is learning dance in a fun and loving way but expecations from her are increasing in a positive and loving way. My son feels so comfortable there that he wanted to take a class as well. this is because the staff takes the time to get to know him and talk to him as well. This is a fun loving studio with a great group of women running the show behind an outstanding owner. She might not be there all the time, since her personal life as a young mom with pre-mature twins keep her busy, but she is always available by e-mail and is very good at updating information that concerns the studio. We are making good memories and I would recommond thsi studio to anyone who is looking for a nuturing dance studio that also lets the kids have fun!
From the mom of a dancer at Center Stage.
My 4 year old and 7 year old dance at Center Stage and they both really enjoy the classes they take. The teachers are all wonderful. We have been here for 4 years, and have never had a bad experience only great memories and good friends.
Thanks for 4 great years to the team of great people at Center Stage, we are looking forward to many more.
Response from a teacher.
First, please keep in mind that you don't know all the underlying circumstances of each individual teacher's personal life that may influence them to change their priorities. These are decisions made by each teacher, each having very different personal situations, and we respect their decisions. This has nothing to do with Michelle, nor have they been due to being unhappy with the studio. Many have been due to continuing school, beginning their own families, and/or moving - to where the commute to the studio simply isn't reasonable.
Second, I take offense to the comment regarding the tap/jazz teacher - as that would be me. I understand that you may be upset with the way that you think the studio is being run, but don't bash the teachers. I have been teaching at Center Stage for over 3 years, my picture is hanging in the studio, and I have had over 25 years of dance experience - including my BFA in Dancing & Choreography from UT Austin, and dancing with Tapestry Dance Company. I don't claim to be the most astounding dancer, but I do have the knowledge and have the passion to share with my students. And the most important element of dance that we continuously try to remind the students of is that dance should be fun, regardless of their ability.
I'll also add that I'm rarely ever late to start teaching my classes, and if by some chance I am, I always hold the students late to insure that they get the full hour that the parents have paid for. Now this may not be how all of the teachers run their classes, but as a dancer coming from so many years of experience, I remember what it was like to have my teachers do that in my classes, so I refuse to let it happen with my students.
I understand that our studio may not be a perfect fit for every family but I ask that you please take a moment to step back, take a breath, and think before write your critique. We don't ask anyone to write or say anything they don't believe to be true. But I also don't think it's necessary to write with so many emotions and to say things that could be harmful to more people that you realize.
Center Stage. To have some cranky old lady reflect an opinion that is biased and totally untrue is heartbreaking! Michelle is an amazing dancer, studio owner and mother! Above all she has the strength and determination to go above and beyond in all her endeavors. Michelle and her family have had a hard row to hoe this past year and have soared well above any expectations! I've had my children in enough dance studios to know that if you do not like the place...LEAVE! You and the studio will be much better off. Your attitude is wasting the time and talent of those that want to enjoy the experience of teaching a CHILD a new talent and love for dance. Keep up the GREAT work Michelle!!
Center Stage is great!.
I read a few of the negative comments and had to open an account.
The studio is clean. The waiting room is not huge, but it certainly works to wait. They have a TV for the little ones, and some items to purchase. I really like the consignment b/c it keeps the cost down for leotards and shoes.
We have had the same instructors the entire year, and could not be happier. They are all sweet and caring, and seem to know what they are doing.
My daughter really enjoys attending the weekly classes, and I really enjoy watching her preform.
The rates are very reasonable and they don't overcharge you. The fees were all shown to me at the beginning of the year, and none of them have changed.
I have met Michelle, and she is as nice as one could be. I have seen her at the studio many times, and she is not my daughters teacher. I have also seen photos of her cute babies. How awful of someone to talk like that about the ordeal her family went through last year. (Shame on you!)
Overall, I would rate this as an A+ establishment.
Best Studio in Cedar Park.
I love this studio and it breaks my heart that there is one person out there so dedicated to writing a bad review. Surely this person, never discussed his/her unhappiness with Michelle because she would do anything for anyone that goes to that studio. Last year she almost lost her twin babies who were born at 24 weeks, so my guess is this person was caught in the middle of a very stressful time for her and the studio b/c it did affect everyone...just like it would if it were your family.
My daughter has been taking dance from Ms.Michelle since the studio opened and we could not be happier...we have had so many great teachers it is hard to count. The studio is more than just a place to learn dance though...it is a family.
I know several people who have left to try other places and they all tell me how the regret it and many have returned.
This year my daughter competed and won several overall awards, which clearly goes to the quality of instruction.
You could not choose a place that was more affordable, positive, and caring for your child to learn the basic or advanced dance styles...I LOVE IT!!!
